Ah yeah I forgot about that one.

Lol it was a typo and I should hire a proof-reader, but the cause is just speculation and we should wait for an official source to confirm

I would hazard a guess and say it could have been an oil leak that has sprayed onto the exhaust system which is the engine was doing a regen at the time the exhaust would have been in excess of 600°C but it could have been anything and judging from videos and pictures I have seen the fire seemed to originate from the engine bay

Selective memory loss again . . . .

Just what you want from the thing that's trying to stop your vehicle from killing itself.

Rather strange what's happened, but it definitely isn't anti social, there's a video on YouTube of some idiot enthusiast called mason standing right next to 2220 while it's smoking out, and then posts a video of the fire coming out from the rear engine grills. Definitely not antisocial, also a lot of liquid was dripping out the engine, and in the videos that liquid was also on fire. Glad everyone was okay

And one of the E200 MMCs cascaded to Xplore Dundee.

The liquid as silly as it sounds could of been deisiel because deisiel also isn't flammable the coolant more than likely would of evaporated, It may of been a bit of coolant where the fire as melted the tanks or anything. I'm not saying this is the case but the liquid could be anything coolant, deisiel or even oil, don't forget oil when it's hot is like a liquid it's when it's cool it goes thicker.

Which isn't many, considering the number on the road. DVSA records roughly 100 thermal incidents a year. E200MMCs are now coming up to 10 years old

I seem to recall it was only 3 of them? Not "All" of them.
