The NXWM site claims the 5 is diverted onto princes way and lode lane towards Solihull, however this has been the main routing for a while. The NXWM website claims the 5 uses Homer Road when going into Solihull. Anyone know which is correct? The diversion ends somewhere in may, maybe the 5 will use Homer road once cleared?

I don't think it really makes any difference, it doesn't stop between Church Hill Road and the town centre anyway.

I only get the 5 out of Solihull, haven't used it to get to there in a long time.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I think there might be a flexible routing on the registration so if there's a problem on Princes Way it can use Homer Road instead.
As of last night when I was there, there are yellow signs that Homer Road is due to be closed on Monday for several weeks for roadworks.

My personal opinion I'd like to see it stop on Homer Road at the back of Touchwood. There is a shelter by the police station in one direction that has been out of use for a number of years.

Wasn't Homer road and Herbert road used by the 5,6,31 etc? Until they all suddenly left those 2 roads

The 6, 49, 76 briefly used Herbert Road and Homer Road in 2015 when public realm was being completed. The 5 used to leave Solhull via New Road and Church Hill Road.

Next year concludes 100 years off the 11 then. Almost minimal change to the route too

Mark Fitchew is the font of all knowledge on route history. Per his blog here, the 37 started in 1977:

The first bus service along the Warwick Road was the 44, which started in 1937.  This replaced tram service 44, which had started in 1916.

The Warwick Road was the last main road in Birmingham to have a tramway.
