Quote from: Stu on March 10, 2024, 08:26:06 PMTony has previously stated that PB are having all their double-deck fleet replaced with new electrics, so there will be some Platinums and E400s that will be made use of. Probably unlikely that 5 vehicles of a type no other garage has operated would be deployed elsewhere.

It would depend on how long this hydrogen refuelling issue goes on for really.
It does seem unlikely but it depends on how different they are from a single decker Omnilink for maintenance and driver training perspective. Sadly while there is a single point of failure (Tyseley) I can see re-fuelling issues as being an on-going possibility.

If there simmilar to an Omnilink, WA and WB can use them as WA probably won't be getting any Electrics for a while yet and they would help with WA's DD Shortage. WB probably wouldn't need them but maybe as back up to there Main fleet or to make sure it's DD Routes such as the 74, 80, 82/87, 5 and 12/12A/13/13A are DD and don't get SD's which as some WB Drivers have stated get absolutely Rammed

No, all different manufacturers buses are different, that's the whole point.

I know that but the E200 and E400 I heard are basically the same so if a Driver can drive the E200 they can drive the E400 so I thought the Omnilink would be the same as the Omnicity

Engineering is as important as drivers though, and not only do engineers need training on where things are on them the stores also needs to stock all the extra parts. The Omnicity does need separate driver training which is also very expensive.

I'd guess these might be the last diesel double deckers to run from PB. Withdrawn late this year or early next year maybe.

OmniLink and OmniCity are different buses. There may be some physical similarities in the body shell design, but that's about it.

OmniCity is built on Scania's N-series chassis, while the OmniLink is built on the K-series.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Rewarded... or allocated lol.

I do wonder how many different companies have ran that Sunday contract. Used to see all manner of different buses up here until they changed the route and removed the bus from the estate.

Amazon service 64:
I'm wondering how this and the peak route X64 (strange route number) are doing as they have been running a few months now. I know Amazon have funded these services but why haven't NX advertised these routes more to gain extra passengers because no one is going to get on it if they don't know what it is.

It would be up to Amazon to promote these services to their workforce, after all that is who these services are aimed at, not so much the 'general public' who are able to make use of them.

Imagine a situation where the buses are so busy with 'other passengers' that Amazon workers are unable to get on them! Amazon would be rightly pissed!
