Looks like Ridleys may partially replace them. They seem to also have new Warwickshire closed door school services starting RID 12 and RID 13. In addition to what they already operate.
Timetables – Ridleys Coaches

Diamond Buses also running the 502 Kings Heath to Alcester.

Yes, Ridleys have taken on some work, and looking at their Facebook page they have had a manic week (and Bank Holiday weekend) dealing with it all.

Diamond have also extended a 247A Alcester schools journey to start from Alvechurch.

Well done to both operators for stepping in a short notice.

Possibly combining the route journeys with other operations so to minimise wastage. Like with the 247. Green Bus must have suffered a lot of dead milage not having other routes the vehicles could run on during the day. Maybe these companies will be better placed to minimise these additional costs.

I think green bus used to park up in alcester or somewhere by there as cheaper to park up than run back to depot unless they also done private hire for schools there

Diamond will also start operating the 502 Kings Heath - Alcester Schools.

Green Bus stated their routes were unviable due to the insurance premiums going up. Everyones insurance will cost different so even if everyone had the exact same costs for drivers wage, general operations etc, the insurance cost could be what sways things.

What I don't understand though is why aren't the schools and councils trying to put more kids onto the local bus network. Would save everyone significant sums of money.

Whilst operators are prepared to provide tailored and direct bus travel at little expense to the local authority, as Green Bus did on a commercial basis, then there's no need to. Local authority had little/no outlay, piggyback off operator's marketing and take the credit for a "partnership" that looks good to the tax paying public.

Totally different, Green Bus are quite happy just running Birmingham Busworks, and didn't ask for money to keep running their services

How exactly did Andy Street bail out NXWM @woody38 ?

As @Tony has eluded, NXWM (or any large bus company) provide the backbone of the region's bus operation, majority of it commercially. The Green Bus business model was effectively as near to 'door to door' school transport on commercially operated, tailored routes plotted from the passenger base that predominantly bought their travel passes.

What *I* don't understand is why some folk are getting themselves all worked up over a commercial business decision made by a private company, to close a business down. It happens everyday all over the world. What Green Bus attempted to do (after exhausting all other possibilities), was to arrange alternative cover out of courtesy. Nowt more.

Parents of students affected at the Birmingham King Edward schools (Camp Hill, Five Ways etc.) have received information suggesting that Endeavour coaches are looking at running services to replace the withdrawn Green Bus services. They are currently looking at the commercial viability of such routes so this is certainly something to look out for.

This morning the former Green Bus 501 service to Alcester Schools was operated by Royal Motorways using their longest, and presumably highest capacity, coach SW09 UMD. This vehicle is a 15m Volvo B12BT with Plaxton Panther bodywork and was new in 2009 to Trathens, Plymouth as KSK 949.

Would be surprised if anything replaces the 871. 35, 11a/c and 76 seem to good enough job servicing it and the term started today to.
