Quote from: Jack on November 08, 2023, 10:31:15 PMThere's standing room and also has a limit, so yes it is better than no bus at all.

I'd much rather get on a full single than stand and wait in the cold and rain for longer. That's why people carry umbrellas too if you chose to!
How do you get of full single decker if it goes past you ?
So it is NOT better than no bus at all

Quote from: Stu on November 08, 2023, 07:47:42 PMHalf hour wait for a bus this evening from Auckland Road in Sparkbrook, as a 2, then a 3, then another 2 passed by, all rammed full single decks.

I really hope this next delivery of electrics is going to Yardley Wood so they can start getting rid of these Scanias, because they are really struggling to cope in the evening peaks, especially when people are using the 2 and 3 from city when there are gaps in the 6 services.
I'm hoping for the same at Perry Barr.
Before anybody uses the comment "better than no bus at all", it isn't and never has been

Quote from: dw1308 on November 06, 2023, 04:39:46 PMIf you are referring to E400MMCs on the 17 then it would require a complete reroute of the 17 at tile Cross as both bridges are below 14 feet
Where has he mentioned E400MMC's ?, it's obvious he's referring to E200MMC's

Quote from: GoldenSquid on November 06, 2023, 03:04:55 PMIn AG, the mmcs could move fully onto the 17 and have the 73 maybe become e200mmc has a decent load but could still handle singles or even move to over depots to replace older singles.
We need double deckers to replace single deckers that keep appearing on routes 2, 3, 7, 33, 65, 67, 76 and 907

Quote from: BBS on November 05, 2023, 11:44:35 PMWith electrics coming soon, I see the 4/4A becoming deckers anyways. The E200mmcs can be well used for routes unable to accommodate deckers
Which routes are these then ?
The fleet already has far too many single deckers already. Until the Scanias are gone the single decker problem will not go away.

Quote from: Stu on November 05, 2023, 02:55:41 PMTook a ride on the 'new' route of the 2 today.

First things first, if the revised 2 is intended to replace the withdrawn part of the 27, the timetable hasn't been properly thought out as on Sundays, the 27 is timed to arrive at the bus garage after the 2 has been and gone! Meaning passengers changing from the 27 then have about a 25min wait!

Secondly, it was disappointing that the next-stop announcements haven't been updated, which confused a couple of people.

Thirdly, not all bus stop flags had been updated, bizarrely on Glenavon Road and Highters Heath Lane some still showed 27 while others showed the 2.

According to NX's route map, there are new stops on Gorleston Road near the Daisy Farm Road junction, where I did see a hastily put-up 'Temporary Bus Stop' notice. Also they show the stops on Prince Of Wales Lane moved south of the Gorleston Road junction, but I didn't see any indication of these.
I just wonder if it would of been better to re-route the 27 to take in some of the 2 route and terminate the 2 at Warstock as it used to

Quote from: Mike K on November 01, 2023, 11:02:18 PMThe 50 does seem one of the obvious candidates for new electric buses in the not too distant future.

If they were of the E400 City BYD variant that YW already has however, would capacity (at current frequency) be an issue? They only seat 65, three seats less than the Wright B5LH hybrids which were moved off the 61/63 due to overcrowding, and 8 less than a diesel Platinum. That's a loss of 96 seats per hour on the 50, which has a similar frequency to the combined 61/63, and handles significant passenger numbers.

I believe the Wright Electroliners have a greater capacity. Perhaps these would be more suitable candidates.
My guess is that Electrics going to YW will go on to the 2, 3 and 18

Quote from: Rachvince53 on October 25, 2023, 03:32:40 PMI was a regular user of the 900 and used it in the week when it was still every 15 minutes.  It dropped frequency in the week as part of a shake-up of services in 1988 which also saw the Birmingham - Hasbury section replaced by a 19.
The 900 was every 30 minutes when it ran from Hasbury to Coventry, In 1988 when the Hasbury section was replaced by the 19 the 900 was increased to every 20 minutes, the only other times it was every 15 minutes was on Saturdays in 1989/1990 and in peaks on Monday to Friday in recent years. It definitely was not every 15 minutes any other time.

Quote from: Rachvince53 on October 25, 2023, 09:34:19 AMThe access road was for buses only, although I'm sure others sneaked through at times.  Altogether with the previously mentioned right turns on to the A45 the 900 was a much faster journey than the current X1. It also ran every 15 minutes between Birmingham and Coventry.
900 every 15 minutes between Birmingham and Coventry ?
The 900 only ran every 15 minutes all the way to Coventry on Saturdays in 1989/1990, otherwise is was every 20 minutes most of the time or every 15 minutes to Airport/NEC and every 30 minutes to Coventry.
Monday to Fridays peak-hours ran every 15 minutes to Coventry when it was 900 and X1

Quote from: Celestial Toymaker on October 24, 2023, 07:26:54 PMAG rarely gets NEW vehicles, and quite often if they do, they whisked away to BC, PB or YW in exchange for rubbish, these days tho i rather see new vehicles move to WB as most services i use are WB

Really, so the 2201-2250 for the 37, 71 and 72 weren't new then ?
What about the 46xx Geminis for the Outer Circle, weren't they new ?

Quote from: Liam Pettit on October 21, 2023, 05:16:53 PMShorts. 72a, twice in half hour. 72, once in half hour.

71 was an idea. I'd have something else cover that part of the X12 maybe 97 or X13...
All this will do is make reliability worse.
#193
Quote from: Liam Pettit on October 21, 2023, 04:54:12 PMI would have the X12 from Birmingham to chelmsley wood, and the 72 route, joined up.

The X12 chelmsley wood to Solihull I would have the 71 or X13 replace.

72 is a brilliant route.
First, how could you pair up the X12 and 72 when the X12 is every 30 minutes and the 72 is every 10 minutes.
Secondly, the 71 was cut to run Sutton and Chelmsley only for a very good reason which of course is reliabilty.

Can we all just agree that a lack of Hydrogens out on service is no longer noteworthy, we all know there are problems, most of them well documented and largely out of NX's hands.

Quote from: EK40 on October 19, 2023, 08:21:58 AMIts his local route therefore it should get the newest buses obviously

I agree myself i think the 65 and the 7 (and (eventually the 96) should get the hydrogens
Why would a single-deck route (96) get double-decker Hydrogens ?
