Quote from: PhageyMcPhage on Yesterday at 07:00:14 PMBetter working conditions for drivers reduces turnover reduces cost.

Getting people out of their cars and using the bus instead will increase income but they won't if the alternative is travelling in a greenhouse. I drive more in summer because the car has aircon to avoid hot buses.

Yes it is viable. The big manufacturers offer it.
Air conditioning works in an enclosed space, opening the doors every 50 seconds. The amount of fuel it uses alone makes it unviable on the majority of local bus routes

Quote from: Mayfield on Yesterday at 08:13:12 AMWill be an interesting drive from London to Birmingham bet they've hardly been over 15mph since they were delivered
There's lots of outer London routes where drivers get up a decent speed. The 107 Edgware to Barnet route is a really nice route to travel on

Quote from: BK63 YWP on June 22, 2024, 09:20:48 PMThought there was rumours of a Great Bridge Garage being planned? Or was that just speculation
I've never even heard rumours of anything in Great Bridge

Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on June 22, 2024, 09:05:21 PMSurely it's clearer to read in Capital letters?
No. It's a lot harder for people who struggle to read for various reasons

Quote from: BK63 YWP on June 22, 2024, 09:13:37 PMI swear I read a comment that these are for black country garages? Would think PN, WA and WN are ideal candidates as WB is potentially closing?
WB is not closing, Where's that silly story come from

Quote from: RW on June 22, 2024, 04:40:27 PMSo what and where will NXWM source their future electrics from?
Well there's another demo we haven't tried before hopefully dropping into service for a month in about 6 weeks time.

Yes, every 30 minutes.

Quote from: Mayfield on June 22, 2024, 08:45:09 AMWho knows it a bit of light hearted speculation as requested by ABBW, if you bet on a horse race you pick one and hope for the best, no real need for that come back.
Far more likely to be one of
Transport UK  (ex Abellio)
RATP
Metroline

who sell off vehicles of that age on tender renewals.

Quote from: don on June 21, 2024, 11:47:09 PMI guess the long and short of this is we'll have to wait and see - however, based on the number of electrics you've stated will go to YW, then with the presumption the rest of the 170 go to PB (replacing all their DDs) no doubt all of their E400s and Platinums will be cascaded, and this will be more than enough to see off the remaining non Euro 6 vehicles if not some of the other older DDs, and Scania SDs around the system.
Yes

Allocations are currently planned to be
E164-E230 to Perry Barr (The remaining 25 of this batch are being registered from July)
E231-E284 to Yardley Wood
E285-E333 to Perry Barr

This could change slightly depending on the switch on of chargers at the two garages

There's a couple of PVR increases coming which will take a few of the extra buses up. The 97 to the airport for instance, and the first 30 have been take up by 4799-4829.

Quote from: Ronnoc on June 21, 2024, 10:47:06 AMThe BYD is shorter and the standing space seems pretty similar to the MMC platinums, doesn't look like it can compensate the loss of 8 seats.

If NX were to buy electroliners, I'd be slightly worried about seating capacity considering they are 10.6m.
How do you know which length NX would order, it could be the 11.5m version

Quote from: OH25 on June 20, 2024, 07:55:54 PM4767 on the 80 has just booted everyone off because the gearbox was overheating according to the driver

maybe it did because he was flooring it at every chance
parked up outside Grand Central just before the Markets
A driver cannot make any difference whatsoever. It's a fully automatic gearbox.

Quote from: Ronnoc on June 20, 2024, 08:15:46 PMI'm just throwing ideas out there tbh, if the extra row compromises the premium brand then fair enough.

But won't the issue of reduced capacity still stand though? It won't be as pronounced on the 2/3 or 35, but it loses roughly one bus per hour on the 50 (if my rough calculations are correct).
Total capacity of a BYD is four more than a platinum

Quote from: Sh4318 on June 20, 2024, 07:53:17 PM4318 was the one for me. Fortunately 4967 is a more than capable replacement, best E40D I've been on

4768 is back out saw it on the 80, almost had to double take, any news on 4740?

[EDIT]: it may have been 4769, my bad, is there any update on 4740 and 4758?
4740 is unlikely to run again.

Nothing outstanding about 4758
