Can i ask what new buses coming to NXWM this year?
(i might have miss any post)
Nothing has been announced yet
Older buses getting traps and being repainted would seem to suggest any deliveries may be due after May.
Personally, I'd quite like more Streetdecks and crimson E400MMCs (Without branding). I seen 6148 today and it looked immaculate and the livery suited it well. I'd also quite like some Gemini 3s but thats just me being optimistic.
Of course we can all speculate but that's what it all will be until officially announced.
Platinum street decks would be excellent
A fleet of merc minibuses

thanks for the info Winston Finger Cross it should be soon
Presumably there'll be 100 ish ADLs, E200s or E400s, as part of the deal. Perhaps a few more Streetdecks too.
Any word on new buses order yet ?
Is NX going for the second half of the year for new buses? How many buses are left in the adl contract?

Probably too many if you ask me.
Thank goodness we didnt then

Maybe NX are waiting to see who the new mayor is & their policies before committing to new bus orders?

I don't think NX will be too bothered what the new mayor thinks. NX are already committed to buying new buses to complete this deal with ADL. The mayor can just say that they 'promised' to get newer cleaner buses on the road, and take credit when NX buy new vehicles.

It depends on whether this new mayor is in favour of bus franchising & intends to using their new powers.
Winston-does that depend on who wins the said election?

Potentially, although TfWM are happy with the bus alliance routes, the new mayor could always throw a spanner in the works depending on their policies.
A tory Mayor that is a surprise, what does it mean then?

It means we haven't got an idiot called Sion Simon who was spouting a lot of crap about buses, but hadn't got a clue what he was spouting about. Andy Street seems to be in favour of the partnership between TfWM and operators as now

Isn't that what all politicians are about? The new air pollution one makes me laugh. Heard something about getting rid of speed bumps?
Well not followed any of this and a bit off subject, thought I have to say although a Tory I guess he was responsible to bring major investment in the form of John Lewis Grand Central into Birmingham so can't be all bad.

Hopefully, the new Mayor will be in favour of more bus priorties, park & ride schemes and potentially even consider making some parts of the City Centre buses only to allow buses to get in/out much quicker.

Given that he was the boss of John Lewis I suspect he did.

When will NXWM announce the 2017 new bus orders?
Wasn't there supposed to be some gas or hybrid bused for the Hagley road corridor?
I assume as a minimum the Merc artics at Cov, Presidents at Dundee plus some of the earlier Tridents will need to be replaced

They will announce them when they're ready to announce them, that is assuming there actually will be any this year.

I can't find the article on the NX Bus website now, but I'm sure I read there that the hydrogen and electric buses won't be coming until next year (2018).
@Stu - you are correct. The electric buses & hydrogen fuel cell buses weren't due until 2018. There were meant to be 10 x Gyro Drive Wright DD's due this year, these were announced with the above, I suspect these aren't happening now.
I would suspect that the new buses will be 67/18 plates as it seems according to Flickr that Stagecoach and Arriva have had a a lot of their deliveries and Wright's have been building Oxford, Stagecoach and London buses. I do not know what the capacity of number of vehicles that can be built in one sitting, but first Haven't had any new buses at the moment
An order has been placed with delivery at the end of the year, but you'll have to wait until the official announcement tofind out what and where for
Havent more emission zones been announced?
Depending on where the next one is, wouldnt that be a clue?

That article is dated July last year - so we already know about that, but it doesn't seem anything will be arriving just yet. Maybe the end of the year or 2018.
We got brand new state of the art ticket machines coming what more do you want

I'm sure the passengers on the 51 plate B7TL/ALX400's with threadbare seats will love the fact it's got a state of the art ticket machine....
Well Diamond is in the same boat.
New ticket machines, fleet of various ages!
By the way,is the Nx machine going to use the same scanners & fareboxes already installed or not?

I do recall someone on the forum telling me the setup will differ from Diamond's; as a result, the farebox and ticket printer will not be rendered redundant.
Open to correction, but that is my understanding. :)
@Westy
The new ticket machines use the same cash vaults, but everything else is new
so does this mean new printers which will make the ticket more readable? also will they be placed where the current ones are situated

They will have new printers, but not sure about positioning.
Is there any news on new buses?
More new buses to Harborne corridor? Hope so

You never need to ask that question. When there's news, it'll be posted. If it hasn't then there's no news.

No news it is then if the latest edition of a certain bus magazine is anything to go by. A quick scan revealed nothing about NXWM. Plenty of bits and pieces about the other major operators and 'London' of course but NXWM nothing. Is there really nothing happening in West Midlands or have NX signed the official secrets act?

The reason there is no fleet news in Buses magazine is the month that they are publishing what happened in July, and all that happened in July was 753 WB-WN; 812 WN-WB and buses magazine doesn't do transfers

Don't they list transfers inter-group, eg Dundee to WM, Diamond NW to Diamond WM?
I heard today that there will be no new vehicles this year due to a spending freeze. A rumour?

New buses will arrive before Christmas
Are NXWM still keeping to the purchase of 500 ADL buses (125 each year from 2015 to 2018 in theory). I assume they are - but the time span of deliveries might be stretched a bit further!
Just to add to the above, on my own notes I have this: Additional orders: 10 x Wright HEV96 gyro drive Hybrids in 2017 followed by 19 x Electric buses and 22 x Fuel Cell in 2018. Are NXWM still committed to purchasing these? If so, I presume these are separate to the aforementioned 38 Hybrids ordered for 2017/18.

Looking at the new Bus Alliance deliverables, the Electric & Hydrogen Fuel Cell trials have been put back two years:
11. By May 2020, we will pilot zero emission buses (such as electric or hydrogen) on at least two corridors.

On the back-burner perhaps then! That ADL order also called for another 50 buses for Dundee - but I can't imagine anything like that amount will ever reach XD.

Looks that way, which is pretty much the norm for Birmingham, you have thought the Bus Alliance may have brought greater improvements sooner, especially with Birmingham bidding for the Commonwealth Games.
It appears that the majority of the NX group investment for 2017 is paying for the new ticket machines, hence why the useful lives of the B7TL/ALX400 & certain Tridents has been extended with the fitting of Euro 6 upgrades, but no refurbs. I assume the larger new bus orders may recommence in 2018?
With the fall in Dundee's profits, I think they'll be lucky to get even 5 new buses, let alone 50.
