Hi guys. Does anyone know what is going to Pensnett on Saturday? Will it be similar vehicles that were at the Acocks Green and Yardley Wood Open Day a couple of years ago?
Information is here: http://nxbus.co.uk/west-midlands/news/open-day-at-our-pensnett-garage
I am not going sadly but hope you have a good time.
Presumably the PE"s buses will be on display with hopefully other vehicles bought in from other garages.
Hello all,
As some of you are aware, I am not the brightest of sparks when it comes to travelling outside of Wolverhampton. So could somebody please give me the services I should use in order to get from ASHMORE PARK to PENSNETT GARAGE...
Many Thanks,
Liam

I'll be there. Last Open Day at YW, I stupidly left my cash at home. Looking forwards to see what they have on offer at the memorabilia stands this time! I hear they're selling the blinds from "dead" buses. Dont take my word for it!

That's what I thought when I noticed no blinds sale... So I asked the engineer if he could get a B6 blind for me from the dead yard. He took me there and I requested for the Coventry and Yardley Wood blinds. They were from 660 and 1411. I'm a very very happy man! I was feeling generous and donated £40 to the charity for the blinds and other things I had today.
Many thanks to the NXWM and Tony for organising this day. :)
For the few hours I was there I enjoyed it too, I never got there till nearly 2pm, so missed a lot of people.
Managed to come away with 2 TWM seat bases of a dead Excel, and the front numberplate off 660, with a donation to the charity pot
I have just had to delete a post in this thread because it was a personal attack on one person again.,
I am really getting fed up- with these.
Next one to happen and the person making the attack goes with no warning whatsoever
Great day at Pensnett day today! Was good to see quite a few preserved buses attend along with a few NXWM visiting buses.
It was a great day today, I missed the first shuttle although a quick trip on the 205 amended that. I also introduced someone to the forum so hopefully we'll be seeing a new member soon enough.
Great garage, I liked how open it was, the addition of memorabilia was great. Would have liked to get a nice panorama shot of the dead buses but sadly it wasn't to be.
I hope their is another open day soon enough ideally on a weekend when the garage has a few extra buses. Thanks to all NXWM staff involved. I was the 1 in the white jacket, black hat if anyone saw me.
Great couple of hours spent at Pensnett this afternoon! Cheers!

I would like to apologise for my slight rant earlier, sometimes when I am... Somewhat Annoyed, I tend to word things a little bluntly.
Also, can I ask why I am not allowed to speak my mind without being criticized but somebody IS allowed to go and cause mechanical damage to a vehicle and not get anything said to them?

With respect Tony, some of us are old enough to know better & behave responsibly around a working enviroment.
Perhaps there ought to be an age limit at these things or have no unaccompanied minors, unless there is such a rule already?

To be fair, I was surprised at how easy it was! Mainly changed the displays to the 74(E)/75(E) - although, on 4199, I did set it to the 128E (Five Ways). :P The photos on my Flickr page are from my iPhone (after the *sorry excuse of a* battery ran out on my camera); unfortunately, with countless attempts, I don't seem to be able to upload the photos from my camera! ::)
I was also surprised by the ease of which the younger party were in control of the bus, changing displays to opening doors using the emergency buttons on the doors
A nice addition of the day were the collectors items, I personally purchased a Stobart Lorry model and "The West Midlands Bus Guide & Fleet List" book. Its a great read full of good information and it gives a remarkable insight into the West Midlands bus operations. I would have liked if their was a book by National Express giving an overview of their operations.
May be an idea for some members of this forum ?!

You weren't there! There were staff around all the time watching what was going on.
Some of the ill-informed things I was told yesterday were 'Someone has broken the bus by running all the air out' That doesn't break a bus and actually makes it safer as it will not move even if the handbrake is released.

@Tony, I can actually back-up what you say in regards to the air in a bus as when I worked for Diamond I was allocated the task of driving the buses out of the fuel/wash bay in Kidderminster the one morning I went into work anyway I got in this Dart started it up put it into gear let the handbrake off and nothing happened little did I realise at the time the air had gone down to practically nothing overnight thus making the bus unable to move

Looks like it was one of the THM park & Ride Fleetlines, were they 6960 & 6965?

Ah right, I presume the green ones were different then, weren't they used on the 265 or I am dreaming again?

Thanks
@Winston , 2172 is in the livery i remember, quite often saw it on a Saturday on the 265/75.
Clinging onto the topic only by my fingernails, I thought you might like these. I think they each spent about 2 weeks at TMH. Every driver I spoke to said the Dart SLF was a much nicer bus than the Volvo B6LE!

No I believe they were painted in TMH colours like TWM but with a green rather than red stripe with the blue relief & white body rather than allover green tho I could be wrong of course
@Stuharris 6360Tho as Winston says only 2172 ever wore that livery the others were in allover white with TMH logos applied
