So many comings and goings that I've lost sight of exactly what NX currently has on order in terms of new vehicles. Are the recent additions to Coventry part of the 2012/13 order or  a current 2013/14 order? If the latter, are there further vehicles to be delivered through the year? Given that garages appear to operate as autonomous units who exactly decides which garage gets what of new vehicles delivered?

These are all from 2013 orders:

21 x Hybrid double deckers (9 Volvo B5LH & 12 x E400H) to WN - in service
9 x E400H to Dundee - 6 of 9 in service at last count
25 x Volvo B7RLE comprising 24 new plus the ex demo 2153 has been acquired (2154 to PE, 2153, 2155-2177 to CV)
60 x E400 ( initial 15 x 4880-4 too ?, 4885-4894 to CV), 45 still to be delivered

NXWM's Peter Coates announced in the Express & Stair earlier in the year that 130 new buses would be ordered, so that leaves a further 15 x t.b.c

I had the missing 15 as further Volvo B7RLE (a theoretical 2178-92 - well up to 2193 but that was before the purchase of 2153, which I assume is counted in this 130 total). Another 45 Enviro400 will take fleet numbers up to 4939 presumably - and the 5000 mark will be broken with any further double-deck orders. Obviously the hybrids are already in the 5xxx series.

Well this is worth a look just for it's comic value...

A very confused article to say the least - what's the 23 (from 9th June, currently service 2) got to do with the 360/801?! You'd never have known route 23 ran City - Allesley Park from 1959 until February 2012, it makes it sound as if the area is getting its first ever service! That Councillor gets his face everywhere.

I take it that 1547 is withdrawn (although still on-site at Coventry possibly) leaving 1548 as the oldest bus still in service?

The 27 reappears in its old guise having been replaced in 1985 by the 1.
It will apparently turn round at the roundabout before the Toll Bar island.

Revised services 2 and 3 provide reduced 10 minute service to Cheylesmore, which will hopefully perform more reliably than the 2,3/A.
Overall the revised 2, 3, 23 and 27 seems to require one less bus due to this frequency reduction.

Oh, there is a fairly new bus shelter more-or-less on the roundabout, which the 27 presumably won't be using then. I recall the old service 27 - operated with the 37/47 and the rarely seen 57 which terminated at the Stonebridge Industrial Estate on Rowley Drive. If must have been 1985 when the 1 was cross-linked to Toll Bar End and the Stoke Heath segment was ditched.

Service 2 will no longer serve Allesley Park and will now be served by former 23.
Service 3 will revised route and around Fenside. New frequency is Every 20min from 30min. Inter-works with Service 2 to full serve Fenside loop with up to Every 10min.
Service 4 will minor timing changes to improve punctuality and maybe changes frequency from Every 15min to Every 12min.
Service 5  will minor timing changes to improve punctuality. An early am journey extended from Lythalls Lane to Arena Park
Service 7 will improve reliability with peak times during Middlemarch Business Park.
Service 8/8A/9/9A will improve reliability on Mon-Fri evening, Saturday evening and Sunday.
Service 10 will improve reliability and will extra buses operate on this. Could be changes frequency from Every 15min to Every 12min. Soon receive a new 10 ADL.
Service 11/12 will some time changes to up 5min on timetable in morning.
Service 13 will improve reliability.
Service 16/16A will extend to serve Warwickshire shopping park and upgrade the Double Decker. When the 10 route receive a new ADL then 16/16A will operate on Double Decker.
Service 23 will back on service and normal route. Frequency will be Every 15min on Mon-Sat Daytime.
Service 27 will new link to Toll Bar End replacing the 3A.

Need:-

- 20/20A/20E need improve reliability on evening, Saturday and Sunday make extra buses turn on time.

Those are just the NX Coventry changes of-course - changes take place at the same time with other local operators. The peak extension journey's to the Middlemarch Business Park are to be numbered 27A (an off-shoot of the new 27 City - Whitley - Willenhall - Toll Bar End which will cut-out the Cheylesmore area. The number 7 will no longer cross the city centre). I think the 16/16A is already traversing the Warwickshire Shopping Park [such a boring name for a shopping centre!]

At least four B7s have been in service this morning.

2155    used to replace Enviro on 21
2156    12 morning peak
2157    19 and 12 morning peak, then replaced 662 on 3/A
2171    12 morning peak

2155 still on the 21 at 4.00pm and 2171 was on the 23S around the same time today [Friday]

Agreed. As has been said before, this bus is gaining a warped celebrity status for all the wrong reasons.

Hmmm, I agree with that - it even has its own thread here. You can imagine now people adding updates on their Flickr sites etc with pictures of this bus and an explanation as to why it has been renumbered/re-registered. Sure most of those 'not in the know' i.e. the general public and passengers would not have known the vehicles' past even if it had retained its original identity. But, I guess, there is little more to add to the subject now.

4816 which has now gone to Birmingham Central awating re-registering and numbering.(30/04/13)

The movement from one garage to another is perhaps understandable - but I'm not sure about the re-numbering, just makes it stand out even more than would otherwise have been the case, had it stayed as 4816. It is at the end of the day, the same vehicle.

From a Coventry point-of-view, there appears to be a new 27 City - Toll Bar End - current service 3A [and 7 in peak periods] covers this area. Although Cov route 7 (along with a number of others) is seeing its route and timetable amended, maybe those two listings are connected? There was for some time a '27 City - Toll Bar End' service, operating around the 1978/79 to 1986/87 period in conjunction with similar services 37/47/57 to various industrial estates in and around the A45 & Baginton area. Unless this is just a re-hash of a very old listing?

I would say the new 27 is (part) replacement for service 3A, as it says Mon-Sats and the 3/3A registration has been renumbered as 2/3.  As it's a strange new route number I would think it'll miss out Cheylesmore and run London Road in lieu.
Service 23, City - Allesley Park, seems to be making a return (as rumoured all over the place) which obviously means service 2 shortens as City - Fenside.
I am unsure about all the other Coventry route changes but don't think they'll be anything as significant.

Yes, I did wonder if the 3A is about to get the chop (possibly due to its unreliability, timing wise). Any route that just terminates at Toll Bar End seems to have very light loadings [a-la the old service 1] unless the Willenhall segment of the 3A remains and continues with this new 27. The 2 is basically going back to what it was prior to Feb 2012 - with the Allesley Park section being served once again by the long-established 23? The 23 ran for over 50 years without being cross-linked to any other part of the city, that situation seems set to return.

I wonder about short journeys: my guess is it will be every hour on the full circle in each direction, made up to every half hour between Tile Hill and Warwick Uni on the major arc (i.e. via Arena Park, University Hospital and Willenhall).

I've just had a go and this could be done with this very approximate timing pattern:

Warwick University0630------
Tile Hill06450715
Allesley Park07000730
Arena Park07300800
University Hospital08000830
Warwick University09000930

Warwick University06300700
University Hospital07300800
Arena Park08000830
Allesley Park08300900
Tile Hill08450915
Warwick University0900------

Also, for any short journeys, would the number 360 be appropriate? :P

Perhaps number them '90' or '180'

Dundee's hybrids are now starting to arrive.

Are these numbered in the 54xx series? Presumably commencing 5410 or possibly 5422 allowing for the 12 on-order in the West Midlands.

The fleet numbers should start at 5422 as Tony has confirmed the WN batch will be 5410 - 5421

Yes, just noticed the fleet numbers allocated to the incoming WN Enviro 400H's on Tony's listings. I'm glad they are not missing out numbers - creating huge fleet number gaps. NX have been prone to that previously, I like to see all the numbers used up! In a way, they have with these Hybrid types - by allocating 54xx/55xx No's. But these vehicles are different enough to warrant that presumably.

As Coventry had a batch of Mk1 Metrobuses in the 2156-68 range - suppose it is appropriate that the expected Volvo B7RLE's will carry similar numbers.

Cheers Tony

So it sounds like these will be covering routes 1, 9, 9A, 20, 20A, and 20E
and two spare (8.4%).

It looks as though CV will now make a nett gain of 19 new buses then,

Looks that way: +10 Enviro 400 + 24 Volvo B7RLE/Wrights -15 Scania Omnilink (presumably some Merc O405N's will be withdrawn plus possibly the two remaining Wright B6's at the same time).

I would have thought the worst of the R/S batch would be withdrawn, along with as you say the two remaining B6LE which will remove two vehicle types from CV (i.e. B6LE & Omnilinks) and gain one B7RLE

CV still has 44 Mercedes O405N - 36 of the slightly older variety, some of those are starting to look pretty ragged. Oddly the NXC repaints of 2008/9 look worse than those in the earlier Travel Coventry scheme, that livery has weathered & lasted well. Cov received 38 of the type originally [1540-55/95-1616] and we've ended up with more of them, not less, over the last 15 years.
