Tidying up the numbering system(Bit of fun!)

As you know, most of the bus reviews so far have involved, in some people's opinion, pointless renumbering, destroying a system that has worked logically in the main for the past 30 odd years.

Before then, some of the numbering was a bit odd, for example the Walsall to Dudley services were(still are) 311 & 313, but there was a Walsall to Bloxwich service 319(now 19), where it should've been renumbered maybe 309, so it would match other Walsall to Bloxwich service 301 & 302.

If we use the old 300 series for the current set of routes, would this make more sense, but there would still some anomalies though!
Would you keep the existing numbers or renumber them?

529, 560, x51, 991, 997, 51 would keep their existing numbers.

I've tried to group similar areas together.

Is there any I've missed, or does anyone have a better idea?

How would you do other areas, if you reverted back to 500's for Wolves for example?

I have a great idea.

Why not have all ex BCT and Midland Red routes (and areas) keep their numbers in the 1-299 series and for the other areas, they should add on a 3, 4 or 5 prefix to the old corporation route number. That way we would avoid all duplication in route numbers and no one would be confused. As Coventry is pretty much that far away, they could keep their numbers.

I know that all sounds a bit radical, but it could work for maybe at least 35-40 years!

;)
