401 / 401E

I'm guessing this has probably been asked before but did the 401E used to follow the 401 or be linked to it in anyway?  It seems odd that tehe 401E is a completely separate route to the 401 and not the usual short working.

The 401 used to operate between Walsall and Bilston via West Bromwich then got changed to the 405 in the late 1990's, diamond's 401E or then petes travel started the 401E before the 405 existed so was created as a short working of the then 401 service.

I knew they'd be a logical explanation.  Surprised it was never renumbered to the 405E

Petes travel at that time did operate a 405E between Stone Cross and West Bromwich using 2 buses usually dodges or darts which were new then it didnt last long tho
