@Nathan well surely for the purpose of driver changeovers, running as additional 297, 141 or even 4M short journeys between Old Hill and Merry Hill could work couldn't it? Or even as 4M shorts between Blackheath and Merry Hill??

There is far more to scheduling than just going ' oh lets run the bus to...'  Drivers hours for instance. The duty I did two weeks ago on Sunday on the 56/70 was exactly 5h30min straight through meaning you couldn't add a single minute to it without causing problems.

Additional paid time driving will also increase avaerage duty lengths, meaning drivers may need more payment, or an additional duty creating.

are just two things you need to think off before just going 'let's run the bus to.. for relief'

Sorry I didn't think about it that way. Personally I don't get why NXWM cut the 289 at old hill anyway. Surely Cradley Heath would have made a better terminal?

@the trainbasher I don't see why they decided to curtail the 289 either, but I'm not going to get into that cause I'll make myself angry. Are doubles allocated to the 53/289 Monday - Friday only? Or do they run on Saturdays too?

I saw a Trident on the 289 on Saturday and i've seen both Tridents/E400's on various other Saturdays too so they do operate Mon-Sat(Well from my observation anyway)
