I had a Volvo B6 on the old 258 the once no blinds fitted only numbers passengers just got on as normal
Had a 48xx enviro on 141 also all the destinations packed up was told to carry on to merry hill where they would change bus  passengers still got on even though there was no blinds showing
You could put timbuktoo on the front and people would still get on

I know when the 276/x96 interworked the mercs used to end up having on the front 276X, X276, X296, 296X, X76 or some random variation therein. I only remember as I was on secondment within the council at the time, based out of the council depot which was on the 583/276 route...

Then surely the easiest thing is only to show the number on the front, nothing else.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

The only destination a couple of people questioned was 142 for "worlds end". Can't blame them.😂

That's what used to happen with Mercs on the 83/89 and 127/128
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

So I guess passenger numbers higher on 289 than x10?

I did wonder!!

Presume he is saying that the 289 is being more used than the X10, sadly from the observations I have made, the 289 isn't that widely used. X10 seems to be getting popular. I wonder how the 289 actually makes any money as you hardly see any passengers on board.

They are two different route go two different ways from Merry hill. So how are they being compared! I would compare the 289 and 4M though the 4M is getting more popular plus it's faster to West Bromwich than 289.

No, depends when they were allocated / what was available at the time & whether it is a result of a breakdown or accident

Well ok if the result of an incident, but if planned, and the reality is the X10 is busier and the 289 poorly used, the point that allocating a SD to X10 and DD to 289 would appear an unfortunate error? Unless the SD is adequate for X10 and the DD (an over provision on 289) doesn't matter as there are plenty of spare DDs at Pensnett....

As Winston mentioned, it usually has to do whatever is available and what time of day its going out. It's a lot easier to send out a single deck thats parked up more or less ready to go than a double deck which is parked behind several other buses.
