According to the NWM website, the 289 is being curtailed to operate between West Bromwich and Old Hill only, any truth in this?

If it's on the NWM website, it's the truth.  8)

The 297/A are being amended to cover part of the withdrawn section of the 289.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley

I'm quite shocked to be honest. That means there's no direct access to Merry Hill from Lion Farm, or Brickhouse Farm, I wonder the reason behind the change

Merry Hill is far too posh for the riff raff of Lion Farm & Brickhouse Farm ;)

Was just thinking, although the 289, the 9th June change effectively ends the very long history the 238 had going to Merry Hill. When did this specific service start?

The 238 was introduced by Stevensons during the 1990's, not sure of exact dates. This was one of a few services retained by WMT upon takeover of Stevensons West Midlands operation

I'm sure Stevensons also ran it onto Stourbridge via Brettel Lane & Wollaston Farm for a bit

Anyone know why 2095 has a registration which doesn't fit in with the series (DKF)?

The one originally allocated was not issued by the DVLA so it had to take the next one at the end of the series (after 2152)

All evening journeys on the 4 are becoming the 4M, I imagine to compensation for the change to the 289

Ive seen the 289 loadings, they were woefully poor at the Merry Hill end imo. Im not at all surprised the 289 is withdrawn at the Quarry Bank/Merry Hill End. The 297/A re routing will be much better for these areas I think.

Pensnett seem to be almost as bad as Wolverhampton at putting buses on the right routes!

What you trying to say about Wolverhampton ;D (Joking by the Way Matt). Wolverhampton are the worst garage for buses off route (Especially Route Branding)

Almost as bad as Arriva Cannock ;)

Considering PN only have 5 types of bus though (and only 8 of two of those types) it's quite funny how many unusual workings we get ;D
