I think some mercs will stay in more couples of years like Plaxton President. What happens with 1630,1631,1640,1641,1643,1647,1649 has been recently repainted and fitted on LED display so these will going transferring or withdrawn?

If Mercs will all gone that's I will very very sadly. I guess NXWM need stop order more new buses but that's enough.
And Plaxton President should be withdrawn that make fair with Merc and both are 14-15 year old
I hate a Double Decker!!!

All of 6001-6011 & 6012-6021 are best in our fleet!! I miss too much 6004 and 6005!!<3 <3

1645 & 1646 were not repainted, but had digital displays and were still withdrawn.

Well, 1645/1646 still worn out, and poor condition. 1640 will going to transferring or Withdrawn there have good livery, new seats and very good condition?
I guess these will transferring to CV garage.

What is this addiction you have with Mercedes transferring to Coventry?
Better replace to any Mercs have poor condition and worn out with R & S reg and few mercs could extra buses in fleet list. I don't want miss 1640 and 1640 should not withdrawn in next year. :'(

You want the Txxx FOB variety at CV, the only thing they ever do is catch fire!
CV mercs has not been fire engine between 1998 till presents. I guess CV mercs are very good control of buses try stop fire engine but PE garage is rubbish control of buses but it's doesn't matter about age. What about Stagecoach have many old buses still life.

Sorry but i have never read such rubbish, PE mechanics do not set fire to the Mercs deliberately. A great deal of effort has been put in trying to keep buses like 1645 on the road. If CV mechanics are so good, why has 1547 been withdrawn?

National Express have publically committed to buying new buses, these are to update and modernise the fleet. Any company that wishes to run a decent public bus service needs to invest, otherwise you will quickly find that your passengers and your profits start to disappear. The Mercs are now life expired, they cannot run into Birmingham anymore except on the odd route. This is the same with the Spectra, B6, B10L and Presidents. This means that you do not have full felixibility of your fleet.

Whatever you say, over the next year, many of these older types will vanish to be replaced by better, more efficient, more reliable buses.

PE new Transit out to rescue 1637, removed cash box and then left it dumped, presume its a Mansfield job

Oh and 1743 on the 222 sounds rediculously rough, a belt has gone or something
I guess 1637 is not withdrawn, transferring to Coventry garage for replacement 1547?

If 1637 still transferring to CV that's look good fleet list with 1634-1637.

What are you going on about?
I thought Merc Mark 2 will more couple of years but similar Plaxton President will have more couple of years. Normal Merc Mark 1 going to withdrawn first. 1637 has no problem but no reason to withdrawn but it's doesn't matter about age. Merc Mark 2 age is 14-15 year old and Plaxton President age is 14-15 year old. I believe CV will get some Mercs mark 2 from PE for more couple of years.

Still not 100% clear what you are on about, but it is all but confirmed that the vast majority if not all the Mercs will go before any double deck withdrawals, even the Spectra's are due to hang on longer than the Mercs

personally feel that the Mercs will be all but gone by this time next year together with the B6s & B10Ls.

I assume NX have "x" amount of single deckers on order to replace MERCS, B6'S & B10L'S?

Some are being replaced by cascades of double deckers (Tridents from BC & YW to PE) and some more are being replaced by B7RLEs from BC. When this has finished there will be Mercs remaining at PE, although in fewer numbers than there have been. Presumably there will be more cascades next year for PE, WN, WB & CV to loose there Mercs.

So how come AG are losing new B7RLEs to PE then?  ;)

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I agree with you but I'm fan of bendy buses so bit fan of Mercedes 405N and other single decker and I don't fan of Double Decker coz not like that.

Last I rode 1547 on the 18A but I think feel like problem springs or axle but I don't know what happen with 1547.

I do like Mercs, especially the ealier 15xx variety. The Mercs have been a good workhorse for NE, but sadly the time has come to move on. They will not convert 100% of CV to DDs, so a new type of single will come to CV no doubt

Judging by the DVLA records, it appears V428 DNB fleet number 152 was the bus involved in the fire a few weeks ago, as it has been SORNED.
Joining sister V429 DNB which has been off the road for some time...

Yeah, I hope they order a some new single decker " Merc Citaro!

I would have thought Volvo B8RLE/Wright would be the most likely to keep in with the current single deck fleet, some Citaro's for certain higher profile single decker routes would be nice but can't really see it happening

B7RLE is Euro 5 with 7 litre engine, B8RLE is Euro 6 with 8 litre engine. That's exactly why a think they'll continue to purchase the Volvo/Wright combo for commonality of bodywork

To be honest, i think that the PE fleet has changed for the better over the last year, yes we miss the B6s, they put in many many thousands of hours on services around the black country and beyond, and of course the Mercs are now starting to be withdrawn is steady numbers.

Over the next year, i can see some further cascades of vehicles, but no new buses ordered.

Agreed. I'd say over the last five years PE's fleet has gradually improved, back then they had Mercs, B10B/Ls, and B6LE, and not a double decker to their name. Now they have Tridents, Enviros, B7s and Mercs
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters

PE will also now be up near the top of the list for garages with lowest average age once the remaining cascades arrive/further Mercs withdrawn. Only a few years ago, they had one of the oldest fleets prior to the closure of LH & the arrival of the E400's for the Hagley road routes

Trident 4609

Anyway to get finally back on topic, Is it just 2102/3 that are transferring for now or are there more to follow soon (I'm sure it was said it was 2099-2103 all transferring to PE)?
