Well the first part of the jigsaw regarding the extra depot capacity is that Tamworth will take the 112's off Burton soon and interwork them with the 116 in Birmingham and 785 in Lichfield, creating a nice little loop.

There probably isn't a garage that hasn't run the 112 now!

That explains the extra capacity at Tamworth but still no idea what Stafford and Cannock will take.

It must be costing them a fortune with VOSA as the 112 will now have to be deregistered by Stevensons of Uttoxeter Ltd and registered by Arriva Midlands North Ltd again!

Bob

be interesting to see what Cannock take on, also itll mean the end of the odd decker appearing on the 116

andy

Maybe they bought a batch from VOSA :-)

Ck

Well we can guess cannock depot are going to gain the 15,23,62,81,810 from midland as for stafford are they getting the 825 back ?

Does anyone know the reason for the retention of these different Companies ie Midlands,Midlands North,Stevensons etc?Why are all buses not simply registered as Arriva Midlands .Is there some legal benefit,or different pay scales or what.
This applies not only to Arriva Midlands,North West, for example, consists of even more Companies.

I think the Midland (Liyall Limited) bit will disappear on the 23rd September which is the earliest VOSA will allow. When Arriva bought Stevensons, there was an agreement that the Stevensons name would be retained for a minimum period, I cannot remember how long, but that is the reason behind that name being retained.

Off course another good reason for having lots of smaller licenses is that if VOSA impose a penalty for bad operation it is multiplied by the number of vehicles authorised, but that couldn't possibly be why Arriva do it could it?

You're nearly as cynical as me!!  I think the stipulation was 2 years, I was there at the time and it disappeared only just as the Arriva branding came in, 1998....so from Stevo's being acquired in 1996 I think?

Does that mean Stafford will start being an operational garage again not just an outstation now the 825 is going there and what about the routes it interworks with suppose is bye bye to the good buses then on the 60 back to the usual cannock tat

intresting loop though andy you would never get bored

andy

Its a great loop Tamworth to Birmingham, Birmingham to Lichfield, Lichfield to Tamworth and then a loop of the North Warks villages....that's nearly 5 hours and the best part of your shift done....If only the job had been more like that before instead of 9 trips to Beirut and back followed by the same again....

4's Glascote Heath and 5's Kerria Centre, both 25 minute round trips used to do them on 5 hour stints, hour off and then same again....unbearable!!!
