Rumour changes in East Brum

I've read from a residents forum notice some changes from September in east Brum.

58 extended via old 59 to Kingshurst.
99 curtailed.
X12 will serve cooks lane and chelmsley Rd
71 will serve kingshurst but miss out Cooks lane etc.

I wonder if we might get some upgrading of some routes finally as well. Apparently meeting to discuss end of this month.

Maybe some double deckers for the 55 as well?
The single deckers can struggle to cope at busy peak times and when something goes wrong on the route.
I've seen them leave people behind.
Even on a saturday evening trip the other week one drove straight past the Millenium Point stop leaving people waiting as it was overcrowded. Not particularly god when the service had reduced to every 30 minutes by that time of day.
Maybe send it to PB in return for the 28? As the 28's Heartlands Hospital terminus isn't particularly far from BY Garage.

if the 58 goes via the old 59 route from swan then the wheatsheaf to whittington oval section is left without a bus but havuing said that the E200 MMCS wouldnt fit up sheldon heath and broadstone rd so be interesting to see

The most recent 59 was B7RLE operated, wasn't it? Why wouldn't E200s fit?

im talking about the 99 if 58 is extended via the current 99 route they wud struggle as the 99 is the smaller e200S 831-834 as the 58 uses the bigger ones

E200MMC fit length wise but have a problem on the speed humps

How much of the 99 route would it take though, when it got to Queens Road, would it go straight via 73 route to swan island then to Solihull?

I got the following from John O'Shea - Labour councillor for Acocks Green - off his Facebook page earlier:

Changes to local bus services from 1st September 2019.

Service X12 will serve Chelmsley Road and Cooks Lane rather than Moorend Avenue and Chester Road. This will give residents along Cooks Lane a significantly improved bus service, with a peak frequency of every 20 minutes and a direct link to Birmingham City Centre, and Birmingham Airport.  Moorend Avenue and Chester Road will continue to be served by bus number 94 every 10 minutes giving links to Chelmsley Wood and Birmingham City Centre.

·  Service 58 will be extended to the bus terminus on Fordbridge Drive, providing a half hourly service during the daytime (and an hourly peak time service) between Fordbridge Drive and Solihull Town Centre. TfWM will be providing financial support to enable NXWM to make this change. From the current end of the route at Yardley Swan, the service will go via Lea Hall, Kitts Green and Shard End connecting Morrisons on Chester Road with the Fordbridge. It is anticipated that this service will be more reliable than the current 58, which we know has been an issue for passengers.

·  Service 71 will be diverted between Chelmsley Wood Interchange (Pine Square) and Chester Road through Kingshurst, via the existing 55 route and Overgreen Drive.  This will further improve access to the bus network for residents in the Kingshurst area and remove the duplication of services on Cooks Lane and Chelmsley Road with the amended X12 route.
