I've just come across this.
Does anyone know how this works, (e.g where they get this info from)? Seems to be pleanty of buses tracking down in Cornwall and Xplore Dundee buses as well.
No West Midlands buses seem to be showing on there other than strangely 4 Wolverhampton B7RLE seem to be showing up on this tracker such as 2013?

bustimes.org appear to be tracking a handful of NXWM & NXC routes, now; just PB & WA routes on the WM side, at the moment.

PB:
16, 54, X3

WA
4, 937, X51

Coventry
4, 5, 6, 6A, 10, 16

WA's 6 & 10 were also tracking yesterday.
Vehicles on WN 5, 6, 10, 15 & 16 also track now

In what seems to be a major positive step forward Stagecoach buses appear to be tracking on Bustimes all over the country with data back to June. Come on Arriva and NX pull your finger out!

This is a very useful tool for those who are looking for specific buses. I note that Perry Barr is among the garages that have routes tracking on the system and will be looking for 4780 when in Brum soon.

Pretty much the entirety of Stagecoach stuff have been tracking for a few months now, though only visible on the fleet lists section, as logged in on x route at y time. Even that has been useful for me in recent times!

https://bustimes.org/data

As found in the footer

The site seems to be using sources in a variety of different though not too dissimilar proprietary formats. For example for Reading

Actually another similar tracking too which covers Manchester is

https://traze.app/

Many Arriva Operators have appeared on Bustimes complete with trip details and journey punctuality in some cases, e.g. Leicester and Merseyside

Am I right in presuming that ticket machine data only reports fleetnumbers  or registration depending on operator and thus the fleetlists on bustimes  are only as reliable as any other enthusiast sites

Yes, the veg can amend the fleetlists as well so occasionally some complete rubbish can appear. It's unusual for that to happen, but does. More usually it is vehicles missing that haven't tracked yet because the machine isn't programmed
