Did you see if the fire damage was bad?

No I didn't. It seemed to be inside the engine and I didn't see the engine open.

I reckon this is goodbye to 1628 though.

The third Pensnett Merc in the space of a couple of months to be fire damaged, I reckon Pensnett are trying to bump themselves up the queue for new buses ;-)

maybe within the next 2 years, Better Bus Agreement comes to mind

The Brierley Hill better bus agreement, new Merry Hill bus station/bus lanes & gates etc should all be happening during 2013/2014. Pensnett now have the largest fleet of Mercs within NXWM, CV has the next largest, but a large portion of those will be for the chop once the B7RLE & Enviro 400's enter service

4604 broke down on the Willenhall Road around 10.50 on the 529 today

West Brom Garage obviously knew which bus to transfer out to Pensnett  :P ( I know it probably wasn't WB decision before people comment). I still think the 15xx and early 16xx mercs are far better compare the number of engine fires each batch has had with each other.

I never said it did. There was clearly a fire somewhere though

4458 was seen on Coventry Road island (Bordesley Green) out of service with doors open and police surrounding it. 4187 was seen on Coventry Road, under the railway bridge with its rear flap open

1754 broken down in wednesfield high street. Buses are being diverted down Alfred Squire Road neachells lane and back to normal line of route to allow mansfield truck to tow bus away

Yes it is! caught 1754 on the 69 earlier! I live near wednesfield and always encounter buses almost getting stuck. The Mansfield truck driver requested for an inspector to divert buses to allow him to tow the bus away
