Only way you can get running board info is to get a good look when its with the driver ! I was lucky to get some good info from the driver trainer at WB who kindly showed me the 83/01 board. Gives you a good insight into bus logistics !

Drivers know which rota they're on and Im not fully sure on this so someone please correct me otherwise but drivers only perform 1 lap of a route before they get relieved ?

London buses have running numbers as well, some companies still use the plates on the side, Abellio use A4 in the windscreen, see http://wmbusphotos.com/NONWM/Abellio/9554.html

If drivers only did one circuit, the 335 would need a lot of drivers!

I was chatting to a driver outside AG who was awaiting his 11A duty so I illogically made a generic assumption !

yes Tony, Im from London and have vast amounts of info form London United in partular, driver duty cards, WTT schedule with all trips on duty etc etc, but moved to Walsall last month so just getting to grips with buses around here and how they operate mate.  thanks for every one who has posted the last few posts about this, big help. im starting to understand how it works here now with TWM.

Although the running boards that stay with the buses all day and drivers not having one is a bit odd to me.

drivers are aware of what time they start duty and where, from what I understand drivers have varied duties, i.e if you catch the same bus at the same time every day, the driver necessarily won't be same,

Correct bar few there are a few drivers who have the same duty due to personal reasons or whatever. For example there is a WN driver on Bilston rota who has the same duty everyday, including the 1500 82 ex Dudley

Do the running boards go out in numerical order, so for each route like 29 , they would go out in this order WA29/01 02 03 04 05 etc ? so for example WA29/01 @ 05AM WA29/02 0515 etc or wil it be WA29/01 then WA29/05?

From my knowledge its in numerical order i.e (For the Outer Circle 11A/C) The 11A/01 would leave first then 11A/02 then so on, only peak boards come back after.... peak time ! I could fantastically wrong however, a more experienced member of the forum could shed better light although thats my understanding

Same in Walsall. Not sure if he is still working now but in the past I used to see the same driver every morning on 335, same duty on the specific B6s. He was a tall guy so he used to drive 648 and 650 regularly. The passengers seemed to know him well and he used to wave or beep the horn every time he saw someone he knew. :)

You don't always have one lap on the 11 and then a break. On average, you do 3 trips on the 11 each duty. Actually it's more common 2 and a half.

This is duty 2227 at AG. It compromises of two portions, I.e a split shift. Just to give you a better understanding.

Not all routes' running boards leave garage in numeric order.
