What should be the or what will the allocation be for the 301 & 302 now, bearing in mind at least one Omnilink has gone from Walsall to elsewhere,  plus double deckers are appearing more now?

In my opinion, it should be B7RLE on both routes with spare Omnilinks not used on the Dudley & West Bromwich routes reallocated on other Walsall routes.

(Bearing in mind B7RLE do appear  on the 301 as well, plus as Diamond are starting on the 302 soon, I think a consistent allocation of a certain type of vehicle could work, especially if Diamond don't have any spare B7s themselves & use anything spare in the depot.

And if Nx could brand the 301 & 302 jointly as 'Every few minutes between Walsall & Bloxwich' even better! )

Especially seeing as Diamond seem to be providing a quality, well-used service in the 301 with high backed seats on the brilliant ex Transdev "value" eclipses which seem to appear a lot on there. I hope the 302 service gets a similarly high standard of vehicle!

I don't see how Diamond could put any B7RLE on the 302, there aren't enough to go around without another routes loosing out.

I thought it had been announced the other buses were for the 70/70A?

If there are only six buses coming, and two are on the 335/336, that means there are only four buses remaining, which would fit nicely for the four buses on the 70/70A.

The only other options for a route that could be fully/all day boards converted (otherwise it seems a bit pointless having a mixture of new/old on the same route all day) would be the 6 (3 all day boards, 1 PM peak), the 69 (4 buses), the 7/7A (4 buses), the 77 (3 all days board, 2 morning peak & 1 PM peak), the 302 (4 all days board + 1 evening peak).

I would have thought based on observations & current allocations that the 6, 7/A, 69 & 77 may well struggle capacity wise. With Diamond coming onto the 302 shortly I guess that could be a possibility?

According to the notice it says type training for 301, 335, 336, 70/70A drivers only.

70A makes little sense to me, purely based on every time I see it it's a decker so bit of a drop in capacity

The 70A is usually B6 operated on weekdays. It can quite often on Saturdays be a double deck, but isn't needed to be.

That makes sense - board 335/01 goes on to operate the 301/302 which explains why there is a need for those drivers to be type trained.

Just popped up to Walsall for a quick run around on a few routes, hoping to get a B10L... Caught 1440 which was a bit of a disappointment, doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as the rest

On 244 at the mo, doing the 301.

(Looks like I was wrong about having my one and only trip on it before it goes elsewhere! )
