Having spent a day up in Nottingham what a pleasant surprise to see a well run integrated transport system.

Parked up at the fairly new Park and Ride site at Clifton South. Got the tram into the City Centre where I was greeted by a variety of colourful bus liveries with a number of colour coded bus routes.

The question is should most big city councils follow this step?

It is not as integrated as it seems, the trams are operated by a consortium including Wellglade (the owners of Trent Barton), however if you look closely at the Nottingham City Transport maps:

https://www.nctx.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Nott%E2%80%99m-City-Centre-Bus-Stop-Map-WEB.pdf

You will note that something is missing from the maps, the tram system.

The reason is because the contract to run the tram system changed when the system was being extended to Clifton & Toton, when it was first built Nottingham City Transport was part of the consortium operating it and tickets were able to used on both NCT and the trams, when the contract changed that ceased. Now the Mango smartcard can be used on both Trent Barton and the trams.

Having said that there is the Robin Hood ticket system which is run by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council and the operators which allows travel across different operators but at a slightly higher price than the NCT or TB tickets.

Made a few visits to Nottingham in the last nine months or so. Can't fault NCT at all!

Been this weekend up there. I do find the trams rather annoying. But the branding on the buses up there is superb, and they all seemed to be rather modern. Saw some e400city

Are the green local link electric solo sr still with Nottingham?
Several parked in a storage yard on the 11 route by the Fort today? Wonder what they are doing there?
