Been back in Brum this weekend and saw my old local route running with low passengers numbers. Which corridors do you think are declining and why, discuss?

I meant on a serious level, as in lack of daf  factory etc and other circumstances. I did not mention my ex local route btw

In all honesty.
Routes like the 907, which suffer from chronic and completely unavoidable traffic hell, New Oscott in this particular instance unless the route suddenly doesn't serve those stops which seems incredibly unlikely

The 907 route (my route unfortunately) is no longer priority, an inspector on Lower Bull Street told me that the 907 is only real function is between Kingstanding Road/College Road jnc and New Oscott, Tesco/Beggars Bush as other busier routes cover it outside of these areas. My fear is that the 907 will be lost within a couple of years because it's problems are not being addressed.

Went on 4482 on the 94 yesterday between Chelmsley and Washwood Heath the highest number of passengers on it at any point was 10. Only 8 passengers between Chelmsley and Clock Garage. Most other buses I saw on there did have quite a low number of passengers.

Changing travel patterns will mean that some corridors will decline while others will improve.

Bus use across the country as a whole is in decline, with the blame being put on increased traffic congestion as well as removal of local authority subsidies.

This is why I feel it is important to keep having these network reviews, in order to ensure that the local bus network is built to meet the needs and requirements of passengers. Many people moan when long-standing bus routes get withdrawn or revised, but don't understand that a network of bus routes from the 1980s may not accurately reflect the needs of the modern bus passenger in the 21st century.

One thing that is becoming apparent is the increase of services that serve new industrial estates and other growing key work areas; look at services like the 5 which started to serve industrial estates in Monkspath all day back in 2008, and the investment in services that serve JLR in Solihull and Castle Vale, i54 in Wolverhampton, and Amazon in Rugeley, as well as growing numbers of services to areas like Birmingham Business Park near the airport.

The whole network badly needs an overhaul, especially of the services that travel in and out of the city centre, that are frequently delayed because of heavy traffic and congestion. I honestly don't know what the solution is though, but a network of bus routes dating back to the 1980s and beyond is clearly not the answer.

I think the only way to solve the traffic is to BAN cars from the Bull Ring/Markets and Moor Street Queensway. I would then change Moor Street into a bus station. but we all know that the councils/highways agency/TfWM wouldn't have the guts to do it

Its the Chelmsley - Clock Garage section of the route were they have  just a handful of people on .

That's a Saturday service... isn't going to be as busy as mon to Fri so how could you judge a use of a route after one day? Would take longer to see the actual usage of the route

I'm not judging by one day. I'm judging by what I see on there daily. I just used yesterday as an example.

Traffic is the single biggest factor that contributes to delays. Bus Lanes are great for dual carriageways and what not but the main roads (Stratford, Soho, Bristol, Pershore, Coventry etc .... ) all each have several services which converge and use them at certain parts. Implementing any type of action which could result in buses running more on time but to minimal impact on other motorists is quite difficult.

Thing is some bus users who might get fed up of buses being late due to being stuck in traffic, will go off get a car failing to realize is that is just contributing more to the problem.

Dare I say this but if more and more car users started using the bus, with less cars on the road, it should (theoretically speaking) allow services to run more freely and adhere to the timetables. Some ignorant folks tend to say "When theirs no traffic, the bus still doesn't go fast" fail to realize that the bus (driver) has to adhere to its own timetable (board).
