Since there is a dial on the drivers desk 0fl.139s showing the flywheel speed that would seem to be the system it does use.

Looking through this thread regarding the electric buses due and 10 Hybrids due. Which are coming in 2017?

Don't forget Dundee's batch (5422-5430).

5401-5409 were new to Birmingham Central at the same time 5501-5509 was; would be a little impractical to mix the vehicle types into the same numbering series just based on the fact that they're Hybrids. Come to think of it, Why didn't they just number the Hybrids starting from 5001 or 5101?
