100 supporters in 2 days on the petition.  Just shows how little the 56 is actually required. No wonder diamond are cutting it.

I thought that was a lot for just 2 days, Bus petition's as,a whole do not get that many  signature's, don't forget they got over 300  in Brownhillls Saturday, a lot of shops have the petition as well so I would say that figure for the internet is just a small proportion of people who have signed the petition.

Why did TWM come off the Brownhills to Brum corridor in the first place?

The thing is though in still seeing packed 56's during the peaks

But most of the passengers travelling in the peaks will be commuters that travel end to end, so will be paying one fare to travel a large distance. Obviously the packed peak journeys still don't generate enough money to cover all the costs of the quieter daytime journeys & it's not practical / worthwhile to continue with a peak service only.

Plus most commuters have nbus passes which pays only a fraction of a single fare, so it's possible to have a full bus & only £10 worth of revenue on board. Now that's not much for an hour long journey.

Blimey, I didn't realise Nbus paid so little.

Yep the amount depends on a number of factors. The amount of cards sold the mileage each operator covers in the west midlands the amount of journeys claimed by each operator.
The amount has gone up slightly now we are 2 operators shorter but as new routes go on then the amount will reduce again. That's why some operators opt out of the nbus scheme as it's not worth while for them.
Put it another way when we break down our figures we get more for charging the nx passes than nbus gives us.

So if an operator gets more money charging 60 / 70p for use of an NX Bus pass than a Nbus pass, why isn't more operators doing the NX concession instead?

Lets put it like this.

The weather's shite.

Nx is nowhere to be seen.

Up pops Arriva, displaying a notice '60p to use your NX pass' & it's going the same way.

You're fed up & cold.

Do you wait & hope NX turns up & freeze ones unmentionables, or for the sum of 60p, you're on a warm bus, on your way home.

I know which option I'd use.

Because there is the other way of looking at it.

Doing that makes the NX pass even more attractive encouraging more people to buy them leaving less cash payers along the route to pick up

I spoke to a NXWM inspector on Lower Bull Street late this afternoon about replacement for Diamond 56, he said "there will be a service" and it was "still under debate". There's only 3 weeks left .....!!!!!

Westy

How much of the 56 is covered route wise by the 936 (& maybe the 935a)?

(Unless conditions change, I cant see Diamond putting up for the evening & sunday contract again either!)

It's not 'under debate' It will be registered this week as a short notice registration to start on the day Diamond finish. I believe the Councillor who did the petition had spoken to NXWM and been told that before he did the petition which is why I was so sceptical about his motive.

Will the 56s replacement be a platinum service too, if theres enough spares?
