Any chance of any special NXWM management guests for interesting insights etc. Getting the feeling forums just turning into "I saw 4xxx down the road." these days. I could be wrong or looking in the wrong place. What do people think discuss?

Not made that observation for a while, but would like some insights or someone to come and tell me why i'm "so" wrong. Instead of hearing about we had a scania on the 14 today lol.

I agree, and have made the same point in other threads.
The problem arises from there being bus spotters, and bus enthusiasts, sometimes spotters progress into enthusiasts but more often than not their interest wanes and disappears as they get older.
Bus enthusiasts,on the other hand, progress from being interested in numbers and the trivia of a Company into a study of the history and development of all operators and the Industry in general, usually giving a lifetime of pleasure and often to employment in the Bus World.
Many of the forum's contributors fall into the former category, resulting in the mass of postings of utter minutiae.
A genuine interest in the Bus World means reading avidly about the formation and progress of all Companies, and I am afraid that while many contributors to the forum have this interest, many do not and never will have
Still, takes all sorts and everyone must be tolerant of others views even if vehemently disagreeing with them.

I see exactly where your coming from, when I first joined the forum, it was all a lot to take in but after a while, you pick up the logistics of the industry and you'd be surprised your knowledge on it all also increases,

I think partly with the majority of bus companies having the same type of vehicle and livery etc , this hobby will only ever be for true "anoraks".

There is certainly truth in what you say about today's operations
It is easy to be nostalgic but the blandness of present day buses is a fact, not an opinion.
Pre 1969, for example,a trip to say Manchester was almost magical with the huge number of municipal and company operators to be seen with individual liveries and vehicle types.
Fast forward......why would I want to go to Manchester today, standard Stagecoach and First buses everywhere, even compounding the boredom in having Nationwide fleet numbering systems.
I can see a Stagecoach standard bus in say Leamington or Nuneaton.
Unfortunately this trend started many years ago with the closure of the vast number of local registration offices and now even Birmingham buses are not registered here.
The next retrograde step was the uniformity of the National Bus Company, and then deregulation.
We may complain about the OFT  (or whatever it is now called) but at least they are stopping the ultimate nightmare which,if left unchecked, would probably have Stagecoach merging with Go Ahead and First with National Express.
These circumstances are a result of financial necessity and an operator like BCT could not survive today.
I am glad to be able to recall the old days and regret that newer enthusiasts can never be able to experience them.

There are 'management' type people on here and I am one of them. Happy to answer questions or give insights when I can.

I do hope that if any management people do respond, they are not subject to numerous specific questions which they are unable to answer for commercial reasons.

The subject dictates a relaxed approach, with everyone remembering that the opinion of one person might not equal that of someone else.
