Wolverhampton are getting more new buses, Them hybrids should be placed on the 126 if there going anywere I dont see why they would be going on the 1 uless there single decker hybrid buses

The Hybrids would be useless on the 126. Hybrids are better for start stop traffic routes, so they run on electric more. At long distance or speed they use the engine, and therefore consumes more fuel. The 126 runs up Hagley Road & bits of Wolverhampton Road where it doesn't stop for a while, so they wouldn't prove to be too effective.

So routes like 11A/11C, hence why BC placed there on the 22/23/24

These hybrids are bought with government money and part of the bidding process would be new low carbon vehicles for routes that would not see investment at that time.

That's not strictly true. The government only pay about 80% of the difference in price between the standard bus and the hybrid, so an Enviro 400 hybrid is still more expensive to buy for the operator than a standard Enviro 400

The operator is anyway buying new buses. The funding is to encourage them to buy green buses.

Huh, what you are talking about you blithering fool. What are the big green buses on the 22/23. What about the 21 for Wolverhampton. You can't see 21 Hybrids at Wolverhampton even though it's announced publically. You need to go to specsavers mate.

Ash

Why does the 126 need new buses, the buses on there are mostly the newer tridents and the older 126 branding is quite good there are other services at Wolverhampton that need new double deckers first including the 79

My first ever run was the 126 with metros then the tridents early and later ones think it is about time it had new buses the 51 and most other trunk routes have had new buses and as usual the 126 is left out it was still metro operated when the 79 had all the tridents and the 126 suffered it was a joke you coming into brum with an old bus until finally the 79 was cut.  The tridents are ok but starting to show there age and most are still in old livery and tatty inside time for a refurb.  Get rid of the crap spectras refurb tridents and insted of single deckers give the 126 the buses it desreves new doubles.

danny

The .126 is quietly brillent and tbf the branding is unique now Hehe

:o

What is this thread coming to?? Michael has branched off into giving opthalmic advice, when he clearly is in no position to do so displaying a re-liveried NXWM bus with black instead of white (it does remind me a little of the old North Western livery).

And everyone knows there just are no crap Spectras, only wonderful Spectras........ 8)

The sooner the 126 gets back to the good old days when Midland Red operated it with dual purpose high floor, coach seated Leyland Leopard buses - some of which even had pea green coloured interiors, research showing it combatted travel sickness - there's customer care for you.

So perhaps a batch of coach seated buses, maybe with leather seats and a nice themed livery, pictures of local landmarks like Dudley Castle would return it to the good old days (I would pass on the pea green interiors though)  ;)
