Why are the blinds on the 255E different from all other routes?

Probably to show that it's a short working
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
Local Routes: 21, 89, 48/A, 12/A, 54/A
Semi-local routes: 80, 87

It was introduced by Simon Mathieson when he was Black Country Operations Manager.  The 254 had been renumbered to 255E and there were a lot of complaints at the Dudley TUF meetings from local residents who wanted the number changed back to 254 to distinguish the short workings from the Wolverhampton services.  As the cost of changing the bus stop flags was deemed to be too expensive (even though the same cost was incurred when the 254 was renumbered), Simon agreed at a Dudley TUF meeting to have the displays in black on yellow to emphasise that it was a short working.

In the last month, many of the Park Lane Tridents have had their destination displays changed.  This has resulted in some of the buses no longer displaying 255E journeys in reverse format - examples are 4325 and 4566.  In addition, most buses no longer display 255E at the back - instead showing 255 which could be confusing.  The exceptions seem to be 4585-4609 which have the capabilities to display the rear route numbers in reverse format and which have not been changed.

In my humble opinion, it would be a good idea for all E workings to be shown black on yellow, so that people can easily recognise it as an E working and to carefully check the display. Have been on a 9E to Halesowen from City before now and numerous people stayed on the bus at Halesowen expecting the bus to carry on to Stourbridge!!
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

it doesn't matter what's on the front, people put there hands out for buses with Sorry, Not in service on them and then shout when you carry on past them.

Maybe it might get renumbered in April in the Dudley Review. Have seen they are changing the arrivas 213/214/217 numbers to 12/13/14/17

I would have thought that it would have been renumbered in the Wolverhampton review if they were to renumber it.

Interesting, does the 2 make it a Stourbridge route, it used to be a Wolverhampton route when it was 556??

Black on yellow displays on the 255E are being replaced by normal screens as WN buses have their destinations reprogrammed.
