And its one of the later 16** Mercs aswell!  Its always the later ones in the batch that go up in smoke

I thought the problems with the later Mercs with regard to catching fire were supposed to have been solved.

Question: Is it safe to board a later Merc?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Am sure someone said that they had investigated the Merc fires that PE had and the problem had been resolved, however if a modification was required, has it been applied to all Mercs or just PEs

Precisely!! Maybe for trainers they should use earlier Mercs or b10ls which although older don't seem to have this problem.

Presumably soon there will be some ex Dundee b10ls/b10bles available some recently refurbed. Would it make sense to use these as trainers?

Maybe they could keep some mercs either for the fire brigade to use for training or for drivers to learn what to do in the case of a fire ;)

As Tony stated, the PN Merc fires each had different causes. The cause of this fire could be anything

Most likely to be a fuel& oxygen ;)

Buses don't seem to like Motorways so I wouldn't be surprised if that contributed slightly.

Stu

Maybe it's part of the Mercedes type-training? (ie what to do if/when your bus catches fire!)  :D

Joking aside, I'm glad no-one was hurt.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath
