Don't know if it is true or not but it does sound a bit far fetched

If you look very closely it does indeed have the reg BU57 LHB instead of BU07 LHB!

It appears i'm wrong, my apologies.

Is it not possible that it has been re-registered like the Omnicity Deckers? Surely NX wouldn't make such a basic mistake giving it the wrong reg, I mean they aren't exactly VIP are they.

Niall

Doing a vehicle search on the DVLA shows BU07 LHB as taxed until 1/1/15, and BU57 LHB returns no results (as an Alexander Dennis, anyway). Surely these two reg numbers are too similar for it to be a re-registration? 1 number difference?

Yes I suspect just a simple mistake by someone who makes the plates in the paint shop

Lets hope the bus has been taken off the road until a new plate is obtained, don't want the old bill pulling the bus over!
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

It wouldn't be the first time it has happened, one of the Spectras (possibly 4021?) carried an incorrect rear number plate for a while when they were at BC.

Speaking as someone who used to make number plates in my line of work, these kind of mistakes do happen!  :-[

I once recall one of my Kwik-Fit customers ordering parts for a vehicle they had in; the guy gave me the registration, I put it into our VRM lookup, he told me "no, that's not it!". He then went and checked the back of the car, "oh, it's different!". He was more upset by the fact that the vehicle had just passed its MOT and just needed a service!  :D
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I stand corrected with regard to my comment then.

One would hope that they would be dealt with in exactly the same way as VIP as technically it is exactly the same offence. There is no difference between one digit being wrong and it having completely the wrong registration. A company like NX should have had systems in place to stop it ever getting onto the road in the first place, just as any other operator.

Of course if this was Arriva, most on here would want their licence taken off them but as it's little old NX it's a mere laughing matter...

Yes it is wrong and shouldn't happen, but there is a big difference between that and what VIP did. VIP are being accused of doing it as a deliberate act for gain at the PI

Well this is a dilemna for the PI isn't it? The offence is the same so you can't punish the offence (unless there is a previous one) any more severely if you haven't applied the rule to others. So they have to prove that the intention to defraud was there. And how do they do that? Even barristers in a court of law regularly get charges thrown out because you can't prove intent or motive.

VIP may yet get a reprieve, not that I'd be happy about it.
