Which could see things like Manchester, Leeds or even Glasgow up for sale...or even worst case first grouptap a whole?

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

Werent the Scottish govt thinking of taking scotrail into public ownership?  Hope they do. None of the railways should ever have been sold off. Even mrs T wasnt stupid enough to think rail privatisation was a good idea lol

Not necessarily, they could put 'Greyhound' up for sale which is non-core which would raise in excess of £600 Million. But it is profitable & would effect group results. I'd leave the large UK bus & First Students subsidiaries un-touched if worst came to the worst.

Not that I'm aware of, the franchise is being re-let this year, NX are bidding for it & have recruited former First Scotrail MD Mary Grant to bid for it & run it if they are successful. She won it for First from NX originally.

Bob

Thats a shame.  Apparently since the east coast has been publicly run satisfaction etc is much higher than the private franchises

Except the one run by National Express, C2C, which beat East Coast with a 92% satisfaction rating!

Bob

The South Wigston E400's are apparently being built at Falkirk so it could be them although they're not due until around September according to drivers.

By all accounts ECML is doing well publicly controlled. NX sets its growth targets/payments way too high to win the franchise & know one foresaw the credit crunch & subsequent recession coming.....

Bob

I went to Blackpool the weekend .blackpools buses all look well kept and smartly painted
. I wonder if they do well as a publicly owned firm

Download their accounts off Companies House for £1

Bob

I know Nottingham and Lothian both are pretty highly regarded . Public ownership isnt always the best option though but it shouldn't be discounted in the way the conservatives do
