Stagecoach started new route "SL" last week which serves Malthouse Lane in Kenilworth once a day (Monday to Friday) replacing part of a morning 539 journey.

I took a picture of 15449 running it by the Castle on Friday - https://m.facebook.com/CovBusPage/photos/a.869764016528866.1073742611.369276339910972/874237489414852/?type=3&theater

The SL has an increased timetable from timetable tomorrow. Now I understand what the SL meant (Station Link)!

Nuneaton depot will be operating it too. Definately a Nuneaton driver but not sure about the bus.

Overheard someone say on the 86 that Rugby - Coventry service is to run through to Northampton starting in July? Any truth in this?

Previously at one stage it ran through to Kenilworth but that did not last too long.

Aren't they different frequencies? The 86 has some sort of town service tagged on to the end of it too so presumably that will have to go onto something else

Thanks. So the gossip was right and the 86 will be the 96. Shame as the route used to be the old Midland Red route 586 so more than 50 years of use of '-86' will disappear into history.

Indeed. But it is a bit retro in that most of this 96 route covers the western part of the old X96 Northampton - Rugby- Coventry - Birmingham - Shrewsbury route!

Posts on a Facebook group seem to suggest the Gold Solo SRs at Leamington are in the process of been replaced with Enviro200s from South Wales (some of which are in service now), with the Solos going the other way.

Anyone got any idea why the G1 is losing the Solos?

Solo1

The G1 service is getting busy the envrios are bigger

Route 60 at Aberdare, on which the Enviros were used, were getting damaged on the chassis. The Solos and Darts which are replacing them don't suffer the same problem..
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

From the January 2019 service changes topic I see the 96 is to become the 86 again!
