The year celebrates ? the demise of the Metrobus in Walsall  I cannot believe it has been nearly five years  any road up I have reposted footage  of the day Part One  http://www.flickr.com/photos/dofartshavelumps/12908954854/
and Part Two http://www.flickr.com/photos/dofartshavelumps/12908411643/

It would be almost impossible to recreate the scene in Carrs Lane as the traffic flow has been reversed, If you can name the driver of the X51  service into and out of Brum then your prize is that it will be your turn for the teas  and buns and dead fly biscuits

I would've loved to have been there but I was ill that weekend.

The only last day event I've been to was the Fleetline last day at Washwood Heath.

Last Walsall Metrobus day was a busy one.  The preceding weeks were better in some ways, just cranking around on the weekday services and having an occasional 'refreshment.'   8)

Now  that one (Fleetline)  I missed how I missed it I have no idea of course in those far off days  BI  (before the Interweb) )  I only found out what was happening by reading buses   or by word of mouth things like the last day of the Midland Red  D9  in Leicester (21 Dec 19790  I only found out about it by word of mouth  in retrospect I would have loved to have go to the  last day of the Fleetline

Thanks for the memories, but it was on the 28th of November - My work diary for that day shows I was at Colmore Row, Halesowen, Bearwood, then Perry Barr until 15:38, for a fast positioning X51 to Walsall!

I also struggle to comprehend that it was over 4 years ago, also the sheer crowd upon turning into Carrs Lane. Also that it was bloody freezing & that I didn't thaw out until I got to the Black Country Arms after the final Hurrah on the 341 & back on 6832!

I'm in the first half of the video twice I think. Great day it was

It is possible that you will appear on other parts of the film,  I  shot nearly  an hour of film on the day and I was frozen

Definately not the nicest of days weather wise but wasn't the Fleetline farewell equally as dull?

Gareth

Last fleetline day was quite dull, but I don't recall any rain and it couldn't have been too cold either, as a photo of me on that day shows me wearing a fairly thin jacket.

I didn't attend the last day in Walsall, but in did attend the two last days of the Metrobus. The first for Perry Barr on route 7 on 14th Feb and the following one at Acocks Green in June.

Ashley

I still can't believe it's been four years since the Acocks Green final ever Metrobus day plus the big B10B cull that left the final four plus the Lea Hall garage closure. Oh how times flies

I wasn't paying attention when the B10B cull happened.  Which were the final four, and how long did they outlive the rest?
