It has, in my opinion,  always been a trade-off between lightweight advances and durable strong+tough+reliable  (+heavy?) - engineering !
A lot of lightweight BMMO vehicles got scrapped when they were around 11 years old, despite any aspirations of designers who may have  been influenced  by advances in World War 2 engineering.

I believe that I read that some early Streetlites had a problem linked to corrosion/ a reaction between dissimilar metals.

That type of problem is easily remedied by putting a rubber isolator/barrier between the two metals to stop them touching. Exactly the same as you'd do to separate glass & metal.

Wrightbus certainly seem to be doing well, with winning the Borismaster contract / the have regained the lion's share of First group orders with the Streetlite etc. There is also the Streetdeck still to come

Although the age profile at Worcester  is probably already in-line with First's policies, the new MD  may have a new initiative in-mind  that will also improve average fleet-age!

From an enthusiasts view. If Potteries suddenly became a mk1 B7RLE dumping ground I'd be happy with that. Talking in terms of investment. I personally think a batch of Streetlites would wipe out their oldest Darts and Solos which are definitely not in the best condition

Cornwall doesn't generate the revenues/profits to be able to support new buses, the only new buses that would be bought for Cornwall would be for any specific contract wins. Cornwall will most likely receive newer cascades only

I think Potteries are due some of our Volvo B7L's soon which are in good condition for their age.
