It has been suggested elsewhere that First Leicester are due to receive the entire batch of E400's that remained at First London's Dagenham depot up until it closed, obviously once they have been refurbished/converted to single door.

I think they are all 08/58 plates formerly DN33504/33506-8 & 33544-33574  (35 total)

Thats good news if true, first leicester desperately need new buses to replace an ageing fleet

Whether Leicester are still destined to receive the full batch I don't know, as it had all gone quiet up until your post. Not sure where they are being refurbished?

If Leicester do receive the full batch it will certainly make a big improvement to quality / age profile of the fleet

The one pictured (33560) is 'SN58 CGV'

What are they replacing? The B7TLS or single deckers

I would have thought they would be replacing the B7TLS as First have already started refurbishing the Gemini's

So they're not necessarily going to be used to replace the oldest of the current deckers then. I.e. the W-reg & 51-reg ALX400's

Those refurbished E400's should definitely make a big impact, I wonder if FL might choose to introduce them in one hit once all are refurbished

They were from First London's Dagenham depot/allocation which was the only depot that wasn't sold to Tower Transit or Metroline as the bulk of the routes were lost on re-tender to Stagecoach London

A 2nd 33553 has since arrived

Did they not have emergency exits in London?

They seem to have had them fitted now...

All vehicles must have two doors, so in London it is not a requirement to have an emergency door, once they are converted to single door it is a legal requirement

Just done a flickr search and you're right, it has no emergency exit...

It makes you wonder why they don't order the Enviros with the offside exit fitted to make it easier to cascade to regional fleets in future...
