You do realise that Midland do not operate the X56 or is there another one to the diamond one??

The x56 is one journey in the PM peak ran by Midland, to Boney Hay from Birmingham. I don't know if there is a morning one in the other direction.

Yes theres a morrning journey into birmingham.

Also Diamond dont operate the X56 anymore, it was changed back to the 56 quite a while ago.

PM

Oh right and i was looking at an old buses magazine and it had a diamond dart with 156 displayed. So, was there a 56/X56/156??

Lukeee

There used to be the 156 which ran to Cannock by Arriva, then BCC (now Diamond) operated the 156 between Birmingham - Brownhills, eventually Arriva withdrew the 156 leaving Diamond as the only operator. When go-ahed took over BCC they increased the frequency from every 30 to every 15mins. The 156 was renumbered to the 56 and the 56A (56A been the evening and sunday version of the route). However this didnt last to long and the 56 frequency was dropped to every 20 and the 56A was cut to evenings and sundays. When Rotala took over the frequency was redduced to peaks only, the X56 (limited stop between Birmingham and Kingstanding Road) was introduced mon - sat days. However this was also short lived and withdrawn. Now the 56 operates mon - sat days 30 mins and the 56A runs hourly evenings and sundays.

Saw these parked up at the Midland garage yesterday, trying to imagine them in red - look very smart when finished I'd say. Credit Midland.

The X56 is always Solos since from Birmingham in the morning the bus goes onto the 647 Five Ways - Weoloey Castle
and the afternnon journey comes off the 200/1 Bearwood / Oldbury Circle both of which negotiate some very narrow roads.
Small Darts can just about manage most of the route but run the risk of getting stuck.

Bob

arriva ought to go back on the 156, i remember it, allthough i dont know why it was always worked with deckers, ecw olympians and finally east lancs citybuses?

It's the 646 that the morning bus goes onto.
