Blimey..... They're doing their best to dispose of the Merc fleet.....

Of the one PE route that serves K'ford I thought it actually might be a Diamond/Hansons or WN bus

Bonfire night, how apt

The trend seems to be the younger Mercs catching fire, so I'm hoping this was a younger one, thus potentially saving one of the older ones from withdrawal for a while

Your prayers have been answered!

1658 is the lastest victim, popped round the garage not so long ago and it is already parked up down the bottom of the top yard with all the other latest reserve fleet arrivals. Damage looks similar to 1644 (engine fire again), interestingly it is always the T---FOB batch that are self combusting.....

Another one. are all these fires investigated because there must be some common factor in them. So far, it has been luck that no one has been injured in any of these fires, but if they carry on like this, it will only be a matter of time before someone does get injured.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

I would think every fire will have been investigated, if a common cause was indeed found no doubt remedial work would be undertaken to rectify any common faults to prevent a re-occurrence. There were two guys inspecting the damage when I saw it

Does anybody know if it was in service at the time and if anybody other than the driver was onboard? Presumably on the 205?

Didn't that particular vehicle get "Mary Queen Of Scots" treatment? Partial beheading?

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Looks like Stagecoach Megabus might be having similar problems. I have just received the latest Stagecoach Midlands fleetchanges which also lists why vehicles are out of use.

In the awaiting disposal section is
53011 (Fire damage)
53017 (Fire damage)
53034 (Fire damage)

Also backing up  my dislike of MAN engines, 3 mans are currently out of use
22460 Engine siezed - for disposal
22920 Engine u/s - for disposal
22921 Engine u/s - unlicensed
