When the 'Y' Plate are withdrawn (and other early 2000's plates) from NXWM service are they being sold on for further use with other operators or sold on for spares, or used by NXWM for spares before being scrapped?

I only ask as when I lived in Birmingham previously and since with many visits, I have seen the entire fleet up to 14 plates (haven't been up that much since then) so from the prospective of viewing I am not too bothered, but I now do haulage, so if they are being sold for scrap I would like to get them before they leave, if they are moving on to pastures new, I might be able to track them down at a later date.

I shall be moving back to Brum end of Feb begin of March next year, so my main aim is to bash as much of the older stuff before it is removed, not too bothered about the newer stuff straight away as it will be around for sometime (unless it comes a cropper)

Any info would be useful.

I am guessing spare components, like engines and gearboxes will be salvaged before sale to the scrapman. They generally don't sell on buses when finished.

hardly any tridents have been sold on yet a few have been donated but most have gone via miller st to be stripped of valuable parts and then sent to barnsley

Well... 4329 didn't end her life with a fire, so technically she's one of the first that haven't ended their lives after having a fire...

Afternoon! I'm new posting here just have a couple of questions when the buses reach end of life. I found this site about a month ago and have been hooked!!

First, i've seen some pictures with red stickers in the window when they are sat after being withdrawn. Are these ones destined for scrap or do they get repaired? Also what does the sticker actually say! Can he hard to see on the pics!

Secondly, How come some can be sat as withdrawn for a while and then bought back into main use? Do they get maintained when they are withdrawn so can be reinstated?

Sorry if they sound daft questions i'm really interested.

The red stickers say something like "Do not start. Do not use" - they are put on buses not to be used "of the road" I think. I think, I recall seeing some of them on the Presidents when they were on the 11.
