End of an era this week with the departure from Lea Hall of 281 for scrap. This was the last Solo owned by West Midlands Travel

Other departures this week are
661; 1405 & 1460 from Lea hall
643; 1521 & 7084 from Pensnett

1518 was also marked up for PVS in Pensnett's reserve fleet yard this morning

It's good to see the photos just posted of withdrawn vehicles at LH. LH has been used to store withdrawn vehicles for many years. Here's a picture I took of COG5 1084 in LH yard in 1960.

Looks like it was in superb condition for a withdrawn vehicle.  That was Birmingham City Transport for you!

Two more long lost buses have re-emerged from Lea hall and are now visible from the road at Miller Street

I presume for towing to Barnsley? There seems to have been a purge on LH-stored buses recently.

Merc 1613 last week I noticed it had the red sticker on the windscreen to reserve fleet then vanished, I assume the five other dead mercs will go straight to the breakers from here when the time comes. To move them to Miller st ,lea hall or the farm would cost a tow truck which seems pointless.

1613 is still at WB, 1607 now off the road, so NXWM Mercs have finished only 9 days late.
NXC still have 1571; 1579; 1591; 1594; 1703 in use

Lea Hall is a former NX bus garage which was closed operationally in 2010 (I think), it has since been sold to a recycling firm but NX still use a proportion of the depot building & all the outside yard to store part of their vast reserve fleet.

Tony has recently taken picture of the various B6LE's / B10L's, Merc's & Scania Artics that are stored there (they were from a couple of weeks ago so are no longer showing on the Main Site photo previews), but it does appear to currently be being cleared with vehicles going for scrap
