They could've just got a withdrawn ALX400s top deck from a different company and replace it.

Do you not think it is was viable to repair they would have done?

It needs a little more than a new top deck:

Possibly a few more things to replace. What were they doing in that photo?

The heat from the fire will have melted all the downstairs electrics/interior distorted the remaining body frame etc. To repair that if the chassis wasn't damaged, it would need to be re-bodied.

Fair enough! So sad to see another BX02 AU go! Imagine if they sent it to Carlyle to get repaired. I bet Carlyle can't even fix that and re-wire and re-roof the bus.

Not sure if I'm sad to see another ALX go  ;) Prefer the Geminis and Presidents to the Tridents - at least Geminis have suspension, and Presidents have excellent heating in the winter!

What about the B7TL ALXs?

Liberator9

They're ok - suspension is fine, but still has the ALX400 body (not as good as the Geminis IMO) and some are very slow pulling off.

And in the summer lol

Liberator9

In the summer they'll just overheat  8) Although one I went on (4099 I think) was very cool in the lower saloon on a hot day this summer - cool air was blowing in through the roof vents.

Ronnoc

The only thing I don't like with the Plaxtons and ALXs is that it's rare to see and ALX400 or a President with a crazy cooling fan. I can name more geminis than ALX400s that have had crazy cooling fans, like 4507, 4660, 4423 and 4671. The only ALXs and Presidents I know that have cooling fans are 4086 and 4258. Plaxtons just break down and catch fire, the ALXs are just too slow when accelerating.
