why wouldn't they. As pensnett do the 129 that goes down there

So therefore if the same drivers don't operate the 9 & 129 (or only occasionally), 9 drivers may well not know Portland Road.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

yes they would as the nine has operated on diversion  down there on more than one occasion when the Hagley road has been shut on more than one occasion the last time I can remember when the tree blew over and hit the wolves bus

Portland Road is a big and well known junction on the Hagley Rd, and you also have the Portland hotel. It was the terminal point and destination shown on the number 7 bus for years. To be fair, if you are having to adjust a bus and turn it around there I'm not sure what else it could show on the front.

Side roads...

You can also spin round at the Kings Head/Lordswood Road stop just off Hagley Road. Seen plenty of 126 drivers do this.

Presumably if this was towards city, it would turn left up Monument Road, right onto Plough & Harrow Road, and then right back onto the Hagley Road to pick up service from the Ivy Bush stop.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Kids today...when I was a lad we had respect for bus drivers as they have the power to deny passage!
