Also, a president was out on the shuttle between the depots due to the crowds.

4064 was on the shuttle, I had to get on that.

(4743 will be the cleanest bus in Yardley Wood!)

You mean 4745 will be the cleanest ;) I was on 4064 aswell I was sitting upstairs at the front on the right with James :)

I think 4743 was on the bus wash rides earlier on then swapped with 4745. I'm sure we rode 4745 through the bus wash and there was water coming in the bus by the windows in the buggy bay

That's probably right Winston, pretty sure I went on 4743 around 12ish

A big thankyou goes out to NX and all their staff involved in the organising & running of the joint open days! We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day, even managed to say a quick hello to Tony whilst he was waiting whilst 3225 wss unloading..... also clocked the infamous Reiss off Facebook at both AG & YW garages

4743 must have been on when me and James was at AG ;)

An engineer drove us round YW in 4745, when I told him about the water coming in, he said that was why he'd had to swap buses

Yes, 4743 was doing the bus wash rides until about 1pm, when it was replaced by 4745, presumably because the NXWM logo on the front bumper of 4743 had been half washed off!

AG was a bit of a disappointment really (although I can't complain) after YW being brilliant, such a great atmosphere and attendance. Sat in the cab of 5407, I've sat in Enviro cabs before but my first NXWM one. Also rode 4743 through the bus wash and was treated to a ride on brilliant Metrobus 2957 on the shuttle (departed YW approximately 1:15pm), easy choice between that and the Daimler.

Saw a few familiar faces there including Kevin, Tony and various other enthusiasts I know

Liverpool Street

Nobody got to drive a Metro around the yard like they did back in the day?  :D

I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves.  8)

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I wish, I would give my right arm just to be able to sit in the cab and rev one up!

Yeah I saw the queue for the shuttle bus and the Daimler and thought against it, just about to go back into the garage then saw the metrobus come round the top, couldnt resist sitting at the back of the top deck reminiscing about getting the 951 to school every day
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I went to a London Transport Chiswick Works open day back in the 1980s and got to drive a Routemaster (not dual control) around a half mile circuit of the works. Then got to ride on a bus while the driver took it onto the skid pan sliding it sideways with 25 passengers sat downstairs (no-one was allowed upstairs. I don't think any operator would be brave enough to do anything like that again - shame!

I think I left YW on 2957's previous Journey but I know there was a young lad sitting next to me with his dad and his little brother by the emergency door
