I saw 4253 go past me in Birmingham earlier... tatty as hell. Every upstairs window had massive etching on it, the sides had been scraped and loads of the paint took off. Definitely needs a refurb soon.

4272 is a similar example, I haven't seen it for a while, so hopefully it's getting the repaint it so desperately needs :)

There are 2 Solos on the 28 today, along with 2 Hi-Spec OmniLinks (1846 and 1847)

Yes I am today  ;). I'm just hoping I'm not lumbered with one of the Solos when I get back on there this afternoon

Did you not like them in type training?

Another Hi-Spec OmniLink was on the 66 today as well.

Sorry if this question is a bit naive but were/are the Hi-Spec Omnilinks meant to be allocated to a certain route at PB? I'm not too familiar with the PB routes but through a flickr search most of the pictures seem to show them on the 952. Would be grateful if someone could clarify, thanks! BTW John hope the driving is going well.

I suppose its not that they can't be used on other PB routes its just they are just regually allocated to the 952 so you do sometimes get them on other PB routes.

Driving is going very well thanks  :D

As you have seen, the Hi-Spec OmniLinks are meant for the 952.

I think they sneak onto other routes on Saturdays because of the way they are parked in the garage at end of service on Friday (and less OmniLinks are needed on Saturdays as opposed to a weekday). I am finding it hard to explain right, (here goes) -

Say there are 2 normal seated OmniLinks and then a Hi-Spec one parked up and the 952 is the first service to leave garage of the morning, then they will allocate the first one in the line to the 952 (which is a normal seated one), and the 66 and 28 afterwards, then the 28 will be allocated the Hi-Spec one just due to where it was parked the night before. (Hope you can understand this ok  ;) ) It may not be correct, but it seems the most logical answer to me

Thanks for clarifying; very clear answer! :) Glad to hear it's going well; do you have a preferred route yet? I think a similar situation happens at YW; the 76E can sometimes randomly get Enviro 400s or Presidents turn up, probably because of the same reason as this; the fact it's first come first served.

I'm glad you can understand my ramblings  ;D I can't most of the time!!

Out of the 28 and the 33 that I have been driving recently, I do prefer the 33 over the 28, but I do like both of the routes (apart from the 28 past Fox & Goose, the roads are awful). I have also been route learning on the 94, but have not done that route since driving on my own. I should start on some new routes hopefully next month

I saw a 101 going round Paradise Circus this evening (4239). Any ideas?
