They seem to be all over the place on the 101, running to there own times, also the LED displays on one of the 02 plate MPDs today just displayed 424 with fuzzy orange lines.
Its the same story with the 636 as well it seems and the 966
Was on one driver decides only to go to QE and sits there re: 30 mins then sets off for Halesowen again despite blinds stating bham

R486LGH (ex AMPM?) is now with VIP as seen on tonight's 2118 route 99 arrival (although it had arrived about 10-15 minutes earlier than the timetable on centros site) at New Street.

As a company I've been told by a driver that he doesn't pay them holiday pay and it's all cash in hand work.... When the boss actually pays them!! Dodgy operator!!

Just because the drivers are paid cash in hand, it doesn't mean the service is terrible. Stop rabbiting on about rubbish.

Oh I am sorry Michael I don't know if VIP pays cash in hand or not, so I am making no accusations here, but I presume you don't know what being paid cash in hand means.

Any operator who pays his drivers cash in hand is definately a dodgy operator on the basis that it is illegal. It comes under the description of tax avoidance

In what way does that affect operation though. I know what cash in hand means as I have a part time job with it. It is illegal but what I'n saying is, it's no different as far as the passenger is concerned.

No one mentioned passengers other than you. j_rp_wright just accused them of being a dodgy operator because they paid cash in hand. Although since then Tom has said the 99 was running 15 minutes early.

Interesting. I'm assuming they have insurance ?  ;)

Well one thing I know is the driver I was speaking to was doing more hours than he should of been, working all day on coaches then doing an entire night shift on the buses!!cash in hand work effects everyone who IS paying tax, such as the passenger! And more importantly other operators who do pay!! Im sure this is why he can under cut them for tendered work!

I tried to get on a VIP Bus on the 424 a few weeks ago. The locals said that the bus is due to run across the Gorse Farm Estate at 15-20 past the hour to go to Perry Beeches. I waited till 35 past and with a bit of help from Google I managed to find VIP Travel's "Travel Line" What a huge pile of shit!!!! I was greeted by someone who could barely speak english, when I asked if I had the right company his reply was "Erm yes I think we run that route" and when I asked for the time the bus was due he said he "Couldn't help me as he did not have a copy of the timetable in front of him" and with that he put the phone down.

Oh how I miss the days of Zaks Buses, Pete's Travel, and even Birmingham Motor Traction operating the route.

Seems like nearly everyone ran the 424 at sometime or another. Think I may look at buying 5 buses and having a bash at it myself, it's constantly full from 9.30 till 5 6 days a week going into City. Lets face it I think anyone could run it better than VIP!!!!
No I don't go to F**KING SMETHWICK!!!!!!!

Ash

I know in the past people have complained about diamond and the services they run, personally i have never used the 424 but surely they must have better than VIP from the comments and views mentioned

424 is always late most of the time Ive noticed waiting for it 10-15 mins later in town however I see it a lot of the time (running obv using their newest addition to their fleet) and quite busy

The VIP drivers are clueless, there was an asian driver that cut the island on Green lane and almost hit my car so i gestured at him and told him he was on teh wrong side and he swerved at me so i met him further up the route and blocked the road!

Good for you!!! If theyre not careful, theyll end up like UK North of Gorton which I hope happens. Its unfair that diamond are undercut by such cowboys.

danny

I like the idea of us lot having a crack at running the route lol we should buy a bus of our choice and give it a crack lol xx
