Just looking at the list of changes, and one thing I couldn't help noticing was about the X56. Despite what's been said on here it states "no change to timetable" and doesn't mention anything about a route change. Anyone know anything more / care to elaborate?

The X56 only does one AM journey and one PM journey, an carries a small amount of people ? that could probably be the reason, or it doesn't require an extra journey ? I could be wrong

Valid, but someone on here (possibly even Tony, can't be bothered to look through it all on me phone to find out) mentioned NX running more journeys, and routing it via Scott Arms and the A34 as per the X51

If thats the case it won't serve streetly, Hardwick Arms will it ?.

Yes Tony said it will be partly incorporated into the X51 timetable. It will increase to 3 journeys 1 way and 2 journeys the other

Notice on 4053 today (which replaced 4638 on the 48 btw) says that the 82/87 is permanently serving Colmore Row after the tunnels reopen. Stop SH3 I believe it said. Sharing the stop with the 83/89.

So you'll get the 9, 82, 83, 87, 89, 140 & 141 all using one stop? Sounds like a good idea ::). I think the 83/89 should permanently use Newhall Street into Birmingham
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters

I recall many years ago, the 88 used to turn off Sand Pits down Charlotte Street then turn onto Newhall Street, but can't remember which way it went after that! Think the 87 may have used to do the same also.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

But If it does not serve Hardwick Arms, the current passengers who get of the X56 around that area will no longer have a bus if its going up Scott Arms

The X56 is going to Scott Arms like the X51, then turning right onto Queslett Road. Then I guess down to Chester Road, at the island by Sutton Park, and up to the Hardwick Arms that way.

I would think that most people that use the X56 would get on and off around Boney Hay, or past the Hardwick Arms on the Chester Road, where the X56 is the only bus using that section of Chester Road. Otherwise they would get the 56 or an NX service, rather than wait for the X56.

I know nobody gets off around Kingstanding except a woman on a Wednesday ?

Whats the reason for the X56 going Via Scott Arms

The X51 corridor can be exceptionally busy, so by having the X56 operate via Scott Arms it will enable more passengers to use the service.

Effectively, the additional passengers using the bus along the 'X51' section of route will subsidise the remainder of the service, meaning NX are able to operate the bus at reduced costs - which in turn means they could put in a lower tender with an increased chance of winning. There is also the added bonus of it increasing the appeal of the Express Walsall Road corridor with there being more buses running along it.

A similar system enabled NX to win the 2 tender. By merging it with the profitable 302 route it allowed them to run the route for cheaper. (Although obviously that doesn't matter if someone decides the original route is profitable anyway).

Wonder why no one ever thought of running some Walsall to Cannock journeys via Mossley or Lower Farm anyway?

Thought it was the 80 at one point that went via the Jewellery quarter to city hospital?
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

The X56 doesn't need extra journeys, But if its running parts of the X51 then It probably does, reason I say probably is because I don't use or see the X51 leave the City. Have seen it enter the city very full
