It could be the 935A to Brownhills which is the evening variant of the Diamond's 56, although I perhaps wrongly didn't consider this since it is also a variant of their daytime 935 service.

Which routes require an evening and/or Sunday service that don't currently have one?
I would love to see an evening and Sunday service on the 129, although it would probably never happen

The 447 (which the 129 replaced) never used to run evenings and Sundays either. But back then the 448 (now 48) pretty much covered most of the 447 route anyway.

I don't know whether the 129 would really benefit from having additional journeys, or whether there is sufficient demand for it, I guess if that had been the case then it would have been introduced with those journeys.

It wouldn't require evening and Sunday journeys, that's why I said it would never happen. The 127/128 & 48 do an efficient enough job, I would just find it really useful if the 129 was to run evenings & Sundays

As the 56 mentioned above is only an evening and Sunday service, I'm assuming it must be another one and not BC56?

The 935A is technically a 56 as it replaced a 56A

The 935A isn't the same route as the 56. It's a variant of the 935 which has replaced the 56A

Hopefully someone will start the 002 on evening/sundays (i Presume realistically it would be Hansons due to the fact they run 004)

Hansons don't run any Sunday services to my recollection. I think Arriva Midlands would be the most likely to run it, I would agree it would be good if NXWM were to have a go on the 002

isn't the BC56 effectively an evening / sunday version of the 59?

And yeah, pretty sure the 935a is technically registered as a 56a?

Not at the moment, but they did run the 289/90 for a few years on an evening & Sunday.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

I think its unlikely Arriva would operate it since do they not only run tendered evening services in the Merry Hill / Dudley area, which if it was to be tendered would have been done by now.

BC56 isn't like the 59 apart from it being City to Kingshurst.

It runs from City, via Saltley, Ward End, Castle Bromwich and Shard End onto Kingshurst. Interworks with the 90 on evenings and Sundays.

Having all these duplicating service numbers is confusing on a discussion / forum covering the whole network.

What I meant was.... it covers that section shad end to kingshurst when the 59 doesnt. Always struck me as a peculiar route anyway, I know it's probably a hangover from the time when there used to be loads of such evening/sunday routes that cover various daytime services. It was a practice that never made sense to me but thankfully it has (for the most part) now gone

I would love NXWM to start on the 002, it would make my commute so much easier and cheaper and think they would do very well as quite a few passengers use it to get themselves onto the 9 route, 241 and other Halesowen services, so go on PE, keep the B6's going a bit longer that will soon become spare and give it a go!

I think NXWM competing against Diamond on the 002 would be far more successful than when they had the TWM 109 in competition with Ludlow's, as has been mentioned before due to passenger Loyalty towards Ludlow's. If NXWM did introduce a new route I personally think they should come in with service that runs evenings to tie in with the shopping centre opening hours & a Sunday daytime service. Maybe NXWM could introduce a new route which shares a common line of route but has a different final destination such as Northfield, Rubery or Selly Oak/QE maybe?

Or even try the 109 again to give the Hagley Road a direct link to Merry Hill?

I agree.  As I mention on a thread about this over in 'Route Suggestions' Diamond has no-where near the loyalty which Ludlows has, so if NXWM were to compete on this route, I imagine it would be much more successful that the attempt in the late 90's.

The only downside would be, I imagine it would spell the end of the '002' route number if Diamond were to withdraw, and as someone who grew up in Halesowen, I do think it is nice that some small parts of the Ludlows legacy are still about.  Unfortunately with the 006/230/417 withdrawn or renumbered, and the 004 & 007 operating as much reduced versions of their original routes, only the 002 really remains.

To save clogging up the Pensnett Thread i will set up this thread.

Which services do people think need an Evening or Sunday service?

Several services have been mentioned such as the 002 and 4/H/M.

Also this thread can include frequency increases on Evening and Sundays.
