This afternoon I travelled on 5515 on the 24 from Colmore Row to Harborne and only saw one E400 on the 24 - 4905.

I also think the "driver changing" displays are a good idea; however I nearly missed 5515 as I was expecting an E400 on the 24 and it was only when the NXWM inspector announced anyone for 24 as the displays did not show 24 on them until after I had boarded.

Was briefly in Birmingham yesterday and went out to Harborne around 4.30
On the 24 I saw 4175, 4446, 4903, 4905, 4946, 4947, 4948, 5508, 5516 and 5517. That is 10 buses - I thought the PVR was 9 so was there a change-over?
Incidentally 4945 was on the 23 along with the normal 55xx Hybrids.

I never knew on bc hybrids they had the message" please alight only, driver change, please stand clear

I've never seen this until today, the B7s on the 29 are displaying it too. It looks like the driver changeover point has moved to Colmore Row from Snow Hill too.

Why can't other bus garages do that as well damnit... Forever waiting at the stop before Lancaster circus for the sutton / Lichfield rd drivers to change when they could quite easily do it at the Priory / Square Peg

Tbf, the hybrids (and route 222 E200s) are basically the only buses with speech. Such a shame that they've only done 22 & 23. Would like a voice on the rest of the Harborne corridor. Would be nice to see some on the E400MMCs, destined for the 900/957 when they arrive. :)

Clayderman, that's not speech we're referring to, it's the message put up on the destination displays when the Harborne services change driver on Colmore Row.

So I see. I thought it was on those CCTV Screens with the voice. ::) Would be nice to have that too though. :)

Sorry but can't be bothered to read everything, are these new E400's BC have received for the 60 or 24??

Mike K

I think it's fair to say that they are being used to supplement the 24 and the Coventry Rd services. So it's by no means noteworthy to see them on the 24, 60, 900 or 957. Or the 22/23 for that matter.

Plenty of 13 plate E400s and spare Hybrids on the 24 lately.

Don't mind about the Coventry Road services but as for 24's same old same old.

BC60 is trident/enviro allocation now but nxwm red/white E400s do sometimes appear on BC22/23/24 routes with normal allocation of hybrids

Before anyone else posts it, there will once again be a load of 14 plate E400s on the 60/900/957 today. Every 24 I've seen so far this morning has been a Trident, B5LH or 13 plate E400.

I managed, somehow to see none of those this morning which is some achievement! I saw 4903, 4429, another Trident and a Harborne branded B5.
