A quote from oxford Chiltern bus page:
"We are not undertaking much private hire work out of this depot at the moment, although we are covering a number of NatEx duplicate services on the 040, 509 and 444 at weekends. Plans are that we will begin taking on more private hire and other work in the new year once the commuter service is fully established."

so could this see nx set up a depot in avonmouth? stepping on rotala's toes??  ;)

They already have a depot in Avonmouth located at the Volvo dealership. Don't see any reason why they couldn't expand from their existing base. When you say NX setup a depot, do you mean bues or NX coach routes?

Bristol City Council are actively looking to attract new competition, but can't see NX being interested in setting a bus operation up from scratch

it seems very much a coach operation. but the 040's are a big earner for the company and it seems a good sound logical expansion

Kings Ferry could take over all the NX work currently subcontracted out to South Gloucestershire Bus & Coach, but I doubt they will as NX don't really seem interested in operating in-house . NX Ops couldn't have setup a B'ham depot when Veolia wanted out, but instead they chose to sub-contract out all the work to Whittle's / DeCourcey & Rotala instead. Same when NX Ops closed Crawley depot, much of the work went to sub-contractors instead
