Had a welcome day off from work today, so decided to use my free nNetwork day ticket before it expired.

30 - Acocks Green village to Solihull
Haven't travelled on this route since NX withdrew it, so thought I'd enjoy a ride for old time's sake. Unfortunately, it was a Signature Optare Versa, and I must admit this was a particularly horrific bus (didn't catch fleetnumber or reg). It didn't seem to have any power, and literally crawled up and over the bridge on Lincoln Road North, and was slow at accelerating even on flat stretches of road. The only time it seemed to pick up any speed was heading downhill down Prospect Lane. A far cry from the times when the NX Wright Crusader B6LEs used to zip around that route at breakneck speeds!

82 - Solihull to Coventry
This was much better, a Signature Mercedes Citaro, which again I've never travelled on before. These definitely suit this route, especially when they hit the A45 after Meriden. A nice scenic route too, once you leave Solihull, winding through country roads between Catherine-de-Barnes, Hampton-In-Arden and Meriden. I think the driver was route learning, as there was a woman with him, and he missed the turning onto Rye Hill and had to go round the island again.
Arrived at Pool Meadow bus station, and had time for a quick ciggie and toilet break before...

87 - Coventry to Solihull Station
Brand new Enviro200, immediately impressed with it's plush interior and leather seats. Lovely scenic route too, which the E200 suited, winding through country lanes between Burton Green, Balsall Common and Knowle.

Train from Solihull station to Acocks Green station, then a ten minute walk back home.
Could probably stayed out a few hours longer, and maybe got the S2/S3 to Dorridge/Knowle and back, but the 82 and 87 had both been long trips, and I felt I'd got my money's worth from the afternoon out. It was also nice to use other operators for a change.

30000-16- Birmingham stop by colmore row( stopped briefly due to fare dodger, who decided to just walk on so when the woman asked " can I see your ticket" he sat down and didn't move resulting in her turning the engine off, so he got the message and jumped on the nx 7 bus behind!!!!!
6116- 141/140- quinton church- why had it got 141 to Birmingham then change to 140 in colmore row without notifying passengers- bad customer service!! It should change to 140 by the library to notify passengers as they don't know they interwork!
