@2900 : Well send them up then, Falkirk is a lot closer to Dundee than Brum for getting them sorted. 4053, 4056 and 4113 have now joined the ever increasing scrap pile of Presidents up here.

Dundee had a decent batch of new B7RLE's in 2011, another 6 in 2012 & the 9 x E400H in 2013. It's just been 2014 & 2015 where little or nothing has been delivered new, it's Dundee's double decker fleet that is getting pretty old & in need of new investment

The 2011/2 batch of B7RLE's decent? Have u tried travelling on them fully loaded at peak time??  Or at all? Or spoke to the steering wheel attendants who are subjected to them? Even the Omnilumps were better, although I'm not sure the Scania dealer in Dundee would agree.

The 9 ADL E40H's were obtained through the Scottish equuvilant of the green bus fund

A 'decent' sized batch of new single deckers! The B7RLE's are set-up for optimum fuel consumption not performance, there was not a much better combination of full size single decker on the market at the time other than the Volvo/Wright combination, Citaro's never sold for fleet orders.

The Scottish Green Bus fund as per the English pays for the cost difference between hybrid & conventional diesel powered double deckers only, so I fail to see your point

We have a large number of them in the West Midlands and whilst not being able to comment from a driver's perspective, yes, they are geared up like the newer E400s for optimal efficiency and aren't therefore the quickest off the mark, but they're smooth, quiet and have better legroom than the Scanias. I can't see the problem with them myself. Be thankful you don't have the old model E200s up there. Now they are crap.

4053 is a beautiful bus to drive

DavieDD2

@Mike K  We have 4 of the older E200's, 731 - 734. As for the B7RLE's, I have to say that from a passenger's point of view, they are better than the Omnilinks or E300's to travel on, the suspension on the Volvo chassis seems to cope a lot better with potholes and uneven surfaces than the other 2, the Scanias seem to have a bit more umph to them but you could feel every bump in the road, as for the E300's, I had the misfortune to cross the Forth Bridge on one earlier this year, never again, I've never been so glad to get off a bus in my life! so if NX stick with the Volvo/Wright combo for their singles I for one will be happy about that.

Mike K

Oops, my bad @DavieDD2. I didn't realise they'd inflicted them on you too.

DavieDD2

Our 4 E200's are SN11 plates and were bought second hand from newbury and district to replace solos.
